Secretary of Homeland Security and the person responsible for Trump’s cruel

family separation policy, Kirstjen Nielsen, finally resigned yesterday.

And we just have one thing to say: It’s about time.

Nielsen has been complicit in one of the most shameful stains on our country’s history.
The Trump administration has separated thousands of families at the border. They’ve
locked children in cages while lying about it. And they have failed to provide immigrants
with adequate care, leading to multiple deaths in detention centers.

But here’s the scary part: reports suggest Nielsen resigned because she wasn’t
extreme enough for Trump.

As if threatening the lives of immigrants wasn’t enough, Trump wants to move his
policies in “a tougher direction.” It’s hard to imagine what’s tougher than the heartless
policy of separating families and jailing infants.

Even with Nielsen gone, the Trump administration shows no remorse for
committing these abhorrent human rights abuses against members of our
community. We cannot stand for these racist, xenophobic, and anti-immigrant
