of the new lesson. MEDIA LITERACYand LITERACY
INTEGRATION/CONTEXTUALIZATION
Further, pictures of different products of Zamboanga Sibugay will be shown
such as rubber, rice, coconut, coal, and others.
 Following questions will be asked:
 How are these pictures related to one another?
 Do you know where these products came from?
 How are these products utilized by citizens of Zamboanga Sibugay to
make them useful in their lives?
 What are the human activities that will make us obtain those products?
How about for coal and the other minerals?
 How will these affect the ecosystems?
D. EXPLORE (ART)
E. Discussing the new concepts
and practicing new skills #2 Students will perform the activity :

Search for Hidden Treasures

Procedure:
Students will be divided into groups.
 Each group will make a dish garden with 10 small treasures
representing gold and other minerals buried in it.
 Make the dish garden as beautiful as you can.
 If you are done, take a picture of your dish garden and have a
groufie with it.
 Then, exchange dish garden with the other group.
 Upon the signal of the teacher, find the hidden treasures in the dish
garden as fast as you can.
 Wait for the signal from the teacher.
 The first to find the 10 Treasures wins the game.
 READY…SET…GOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
 The treasure will be kept but the dish garden will be returned back
to the group who owns it.
 Take a look of what you have done!
 Once returned, your group will observe and record what happened
to your dish garden.
 Take pictures of the dish garden and have a groufie again.
 Compare the pictures with the ones taken before and after
exchanging with the other group.
F. Developing mastery EXPLAIN (ENGLISH)
(Leads to formative Students will brainstorm and discuss among their group mates about what they
assessment 3) learned from doing the activity and share it to the entire class. There will be a group
reporting.

Guide questions:

 What happened to the dish gardens? Why?

 Presuming that these dish gardens represent the ecosystems of your
community, what is the impact of this kind of human activity (mining) to the
ecosystem?
 What are the hazards brought about by this?
 List down the advantages and disadvantages of mining which is one of the
human activities in the environment.
 Why is it important to protect and conserve these resources?
 How can we help protect and conserve our ecosystems or the natural
resources in general?

living by the teacher. Emphasis will be on the mining exploration in the environment
H. Making generalization and particularly in Zamboanga Sibugay. The advantages and disadvantages will be
abstraction about the lesson examined and evaluated. The ecological degradation, destruction and damages will
be presented. Sample pictures of the environmental impacts of mining will be shown
for learners to visualize and realize the possible extent of this human activity.
Learners will be challenged on how they can preserve and protect the Zamboanga
Sibugay’s natural resources.

Conclusion:

Activity 2
Gold Digger!!!
Objective:
1. Collect the marbles that is buried in the dish garden
2. Relate the result of the activity to real situation of our environment

Procedure:
1. Find the marbles as fast as you can.
2. As soon as you found it, give it to your teacher.

Guide questions:

1. What did you feel while doing the activity?

2. What happened to the dish garden?
3. If the dish garden represents the environment, what human activity destroys it?
4. What are the consequences/effect of these activities to humans, plants and animals?

Final Activity
Based on the result after finding the marbles, students now will identify/determine the causes of the destruction
of our environment and will infer on the effects of human activities to plants, animals and to humans.

GROUP 1 and 2 will list the activities done by humans to our environment and predict its effect.
Present your work by reporting.
Guide Questions:
1. What did you feel while doing the activity?
2. What are the things needed to be done to protect our environment?

GROUP 3 will make a slogan based on the activity.

Guide Questions:
1. Explain the slogan.
2. Why do you think we didn’t notice that we are destroying our environment?
3. What are the things needed to be done to protect our environment?

GROUP 4 will create a 4 stanza poem that suggest ways to minimize human impact to our environment.
Guide Questions:
1. Why do think protecting our environment is important?
2. What effects could human have if they continue to destroy our environment?

Wala ka bang napapansin
sa iyong mga kapaligiran?
Kay dumi na nang hangin,
pati na ang mga ilog natin.

Hindi nga masama ang pag-unlad,

At malayo-layo na rin an gating narrating,
Ngunit masdan mo ang tubig sa dagat,
Datiý kulay asul ngayoý naging itim.

Ang mga duming ating ikinalat sa hangin,

Sa langit huwag na nating paabutin,
Upang kung tayoý pumanaw man,
Sariwang hangin sa langit natin
matitikman,

Mayro’n lang akong hinihiling,

Sa aking pagpanaw sana ay tag-ulan,
Gitara ko ay aking dadalhin,
Upang sa ulap na lang tayo magkantahan.

Ang mga batang ngayon lang isinilang,

May hangin pa kayang matitikman?

pa,
Ingatan natin at ‘wag nang sirain pa,
‘pagkat ‘pag kanyang binawi tayo;y mawawala
na.
