Conclusion

The Private sector gave the most importance to intellectual skills because in the
private sector, accounting graduates deal with not only the books of the company
they are employed in but also clients. Accounting employees from these sector are
expected to have the ability to evaluate information through research, analyze
different situations being faced by the company, and also take part in decision
making. They are also needed to have an objective but creative mind in order create
appropriate solutions to problems that may be recurring or non recurring.
Analytical skill is one of the three top skills that employers are looking for in
accounting graduates. (Kavanagh and Drennan, 2008) it is also supported by
Richardson, Chang, and Smith (2018) who has suggested that accountants need to be
better strategic planning and process improvement which involves intellectual
skills. Intellectual skills are last given importance in the Academe sector because
professors need not focus on facing multi-faceted problems unlike the ones in the
private sector. Castillo (2014) stated that employers look for graduates who
possess understanding and using technology, and less on problem identification and
solving.
