RESEARCH TOPIC:- CHALLENGES AND ISSUES IN MARKETING OF

AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS:- A STUDY OF SONVA VILLAGE IN
LUCKNOW DISTRICT(U.P)

WRITTEH BY :- KARAMPAUL SINGH (Punjabi University, Patiala)

On 5th June,2016, a filed survey was done by me in the Sonva Village , In

Lucknow District, on the topic of Challenges and Issues in Marketing of
Agricultural Products. During my this survey I gathered data from the 25
respondents by the unstructured questionnaire and analyzed the issues and
challenges in the village of sonva village.

No. of Respondents:- 25

Data methods:-Unstructured Questionnaire

Results:- the data gathered and the major results are from data are :-

a. The holding of land village sonva is very low. Because only 4 persons have
above 2 acre holding and rest have below this.
b. The farmers of sonva village are facing the scarcity of irrigation facilities
and not in the horticulture work , only depend on the (wheat and rice ).
c. The big farmers are only two families in the village has above 25acre
holding of land and have solar system of electricity and in the horticulture
work and.
d. The use of technological equipments in the agriculture is very less.
e. The most of the farmers depend on the other farmers for irrigation facilities.
f. There is no marketing facilities available in the village sonva, and farmers
are selling their production in the other urban centers.
g. The farmers are not in the diary farming system, only four farmers have
cattle but the production is consumed by them in the family and rest selling
the village.
h. There is no any source of finance and other facilities available to employ
new methods of agriculture, so the condition of agriculture is very poor.
i. The women section also observed faraway from the agriculture sector and an
example of women exclusion in the agriculture sector in sonva village.

All these are the observations and results are computed by me on the basis of
the data collected by me in the village and many improvements are needed
in the village in agriculture sector to make it empower and increase the
efficiency of the primary sector. Because I also observed that the more
labour is present in the village and free at home , if the organized and
structured mechanism can be employed , the better results can be obtained.

It was a good experience of me in the field survey and I observed many

things like the obstacles and issues in the data collection in field in real life.
I learnt many new things. I thankful to Dr. Chittanrajan Senapati, to give me
opportunity to conduct this field survey.

Thank you
