PH-SALIVA DESCRIPTION ON HYPERTENSIVE PATIENTS THAT

CONSUME ACE-INHIBITOR MEDICINES IN SITI RAHMAH ISLAMIC


HOSPITAL PADANG

ABSTRACT

Hypertension is a silent killer where symptoms can vary in each individual and
almost the same as the symptoms of other disease. The purpose of this study was to
determine the pH saliva description on hypertensive patients that consume ace-
inhibitor medicines in Siti Rahmah Islamic Hospital Padang. The type of this research
is descriptive with cross sectional approach. The population in this study is
hypertensive patients in clinic of internal medicine in Siti Rahmah Islamic
Hospital Padang from August 2016 - July 2017 amounted to 177 people with a
sample of 25 people, research time during 05 January - 05 February 2018. The data
obtained are presented in table form analyzed descriptively to show the observation
result. The univariate analysis is displayed with the frequency distribution table.
Based on the result of research indicate in male sex, ph saliva contains the most acid
and normal is 3 people (42,9%) whereas in female sex, the most acidic pH saliva is 9
people (50%), in middle adult, pH saliva at most normal is 10 people (50%), whereas
in older adults, the most acidic pH saliva is 4 people (80%), in the use of captopril,
the most acidic pH saliva is 12 people (70.6%), in the use of benazepril, the most
normal pH saliva is 3 people (75%), in the use of lisinopril, at most alkaline pH saliva
is 1 person (100%) while in perindopril use, most normal pH saliva is 2 people
(66,7%) and in the classification of hypertension-prehypertension, pH saliva at most
normal is 2 people (50%), in the classification of hypertension in stage 1, the most
acidic pH saliva is 6 people (54.5%) while in the classification of hypertension in
stage 2, pH saliva is most acidic is 5 people (50%).
