PRESS STATEMENT OF PAUL WEST

The news today is extremely troubling but expected. The current administration and the
interim chief, Mayor Bronin has named has consistently demonstrated indifference
towards minorities, women, and members of the LGBTQ + community. The Internal
Affairs Division’s investigative process is being used to clear Machiavellian leadership
and destroy and oppress those who voice displeasure.

What we are witnessing is a calculated attempt to impair and nullify the recognition of
individuals belonging to protected classes. Sadly, xenophobia is being allowed to
permeate our police department, which ultimately impacts our citizenry. If the
community lets a vindictive, self-serving administration, headed by Interim Chief Jason
Thody remain; fair and impartial policing is dead, and we might as well travel back in
time and schedule the next public lynching.
