El Antojo

Our company is going to be started by us, Jacky Sandoval and Wrayan Ayala. In

our business, we plan to have a food truck that sells snacks that your typical flea market

would have. We would sell just snacks and not actual whole meals because some

people just want a snack. We are targeting those people. We plan to sell raspados

(shaved ice), churros, duros de harina (pinwheels), different aguas frescas, elotes

(corn), chips, and candy. We plan to sell it to people in the Merced area.

The name we chose for our business is El Antojo. We chose this name because

it basically describes our business. Antojo means craving. We have a lot of little snacks

that can satisfy your “antojos” or cravings. We chose the name in Spanish because of

our location. We plan to be in Merced and the percentage of hispanics in the Merced

area is 51 percent. Our slogan is Un Sabor De Mexico which translates to “A taste of

Mexico.” It goes with our name and our purpose.

Our mission statement is easy, fast access to great flea market foods at the best

price. Our goal is to have the best customer service around our area and have the best

quality food. We are going to start a sit-in restaurant, open a new food truck and

increase sales and marketing. We decided to do a partnership. We chose this type of

ownership because it makes problem solving easier, and it helps to have another

person in charge. Our contact information is: Jacky Sandoval (209) 600-5955 and

Wrayan Ayala (661)372-6905.

Our target market is both female and male. Their ages can range anywhere from

5-60. They don’t have to have a high income since our prices are going to be affordable.

The type of people who are likely to eat at our truck are people who like going to the flea

market for the snacks. Our target is really mostly hispanics, but anyone really who like

those types of snacks can go. Our geographics are in the Merced area because a large

percentage of people are hispanic. Our psychographics are that they are interested in

the flea market food. The thing that would mostly drive their buying behavior is their

hunger. With this particular market segment, they seem to be more interested in these

kinds of snacks. Some mostly really go to the flea market just to eat this kind of food.

The strengths our company has already are: recognizable food, affordability, and

we don’t really have to pay rent to have a truck. Our weaknesses are limited space, and

limited menu. Our opportunities are: to open more food trucks, maybe open a

restaurant, and be recognizable. Some threats our company faces are other similar

businesses and the weather. Some political factors in our market are: government

encourages small businesses to start and grow, commercial permission, taxation,

inflation, and health policies. Some economical factors in our market are:

unemployment rates, consumer spending - some people would rather go to someplace

healthier or cheaper. Two social factors are globalization and trends. A technological

factor would be taking advantage of social networking for promotion.

Our product description includes many things. We plan to sell: aguas frescas of

many flavors, churros, duros (pinwheels), raspados with many flavors (shaved ice),

elotes with many things you could put on it (corn cobs or in a cup), chips, and candy.

The supplies we would need in our truck would be: containers, freezer, flour, sugar,

fruits, ice, different syrup flavors, spoons, napkins, heater, cups, and an ice crusher

machine. What makes our product unique is that we have a variety of snacks people

can choose from. You don’t just have to stick to one thing and it’s great for the whole

family. We have a variety of things. Anyone can enjoy our low cost, great variety and

quick service from eating here because they will satisfy their cravings and get to hang

out with their family if they chose to sit in the benched area we will have.

We want our target market to view our products like they are low cost, but high

quality. We want them to know we have the best customer service and also the

quickest. Overall, we want them to think we are the best at what we do. We want to be

high quality, but at low cost. I believe our biggest competitors will be other food trucks

around us. Other businesses like taco trucks, and juice trucks. We also believe food

trucks that are already known and that sell similar products. Our prices can range from

$1 - $5. We came up with those prices already based off of what people sell in the flea

market. Our profit margin for the items looks like around $2 dollars. Our goal is to sell a

lot so it will add up.

Our truck would be located on 16th street because there is a lot of traffic there

and people would be able to see us. We plan to get our ingredients from producers and

stores. We will use different types of promotions. We will use social media, word of

mouth, flyers, and business cards. We chose social media because it is one of the most

used types of promotional media today. We also chose flyers and business cards

because they can catch people’s attention. We also chose to do a loyalty kind of

program so we have some loyal customers. We chose word of mouth because it is

pretty easy to just tell people about the business and the benefits of it. Our business will

contribute to the community because we will be giving good quality food at a low price.

We will also give free products to the homeless one day of the week. We will also have

good customer service.
