Pu-Dao chapter written by (Cheng Zi Yi). He is the
nephew of Master Cheng Zong You, who famously wrote
manuals on the Shaolin Staff, Crossbow, Spear and Long Saber.

Broad-Saber
pǔ dāo

The usage of the Broad-Saber


qí pǔ dāo yòng fǎ

Is similar to the Single-Saber (Long-


yǔ dān dāo tóng Saber).

When it comes to lifting and striking


rán liáo pī zhī shì power

It is more powerful than the “Single-


Saber”.
dà yú dān dāo
Note: The “Single-Saber”, aka
“Long-Saber”, is documented in
(Dan Dao Fa Xuan), an
ancient manual by (Cheng
Zong You).

That’s why it’s indispensible among
gù jūn wǔ zhōng bù kě the troops.
shǎo yě

Those that were made in the past


yú xī suǒ zào zhě

Had no ridge, and bends when


wú jiàn jǐ kǎn qù piān delivering a cut.
ruǎn

If it’s thick, it becomes difficult to

But the saber shouldn’t be too

Its usage
qí yòng fǎ

Is the same according to the


zhào hòu dān dāo tú shì
drawings of the
yòng zhī Single-Saber (Long-Saber) stances.

Thus it’s not repeated here.
