Case Study Title: Why I hate feedback: Anchoring effective feedback within organizations

Case Synopsis: Write a Synopsis (brief summary) about the Case Study

Case study refelects upon the feedback process followed in a boutique organization in London. Into the process
after 2 years, feedback was taken by the 15 team members based upon three parameters: Leadership, Expertise
and research. Case study talks about how the feedback in any organization is perceived by individuals.

Feedback process is defined in 4 steps termed as Feeback ecosystem:

Receive, reflect, plan and act

It termed traditional feedback as ambiguous process with no definitive meaning and how it can be destructive if
given contructively. Additionally, the process followed is difficult as well.

Overall, it summarizes how it can helps to achieve goal if properly shaped and processed.

Define the Problem: Describe what problem(s) or issue(s) should be the focus for your analysis.
The issue in this case is how an individual is facing trouble while processing the feedback given by hi team memb
impacting his performance and attitude towards the work and goal. It starts hampering if there is no
communication post the feedback process and how it can alter the environment and mood of the organization o
an individual. Individual may view it as a trivial issue however, it may affect his behavior in long run.

List any related theoretical concepts that can be applied: Write down any principles, frameworks or
theories that can be applied to this case.

SMART Plan incorporated by Steven empowering him to feel comfortable among his peers and working upon the
feedback received in a positive manner. Behaviour and attitude of an individual gets affected with the destructiv
feedback received. Potentially affecting the work and the attitude may refrain individual from acting upon the
feedback on a good note.

List relevant quantitative data: evidence related to or based on the amount or number of something.
i) Steven joined was in the current role in organization for almost 2 years
ii) Lead a team of 15 members
iii) Seven principles for highly effective feedback: Situational, Manageable, Specific, Meaningful, timely,
relevant and reliable
iv) 4 feedback ecosystem steps

Describe the results of your analysis: What evidence have you accumulated that supports one
interpretation over another.
By following the step-by-step procedure of acknowledging the feedback and acting upon it, Steven was able to
communicate freely with his team members for any scope of improvement needed or any lacunas identified with
the manager or among team members. Since he planned the session with his co-worker and HR for a discussion
upon the feedback received he was able to overcome any perception created negatively towards the feeback
process. Overall, it defines how the feedback process can be destructive or constructive although with no primiti
definition.

Describe alternative actions: List and prioritize possible recommendations or actions that come out of
your analysis.
Feedback process should involve more parameters and the report should define the environment and the time a
which the process was initiated which may affect the responses of an individual. If it is closer to appraisal cylcy, o
during the critical cases ongoing, it may not allow the individual to focus and give the response with his/ her clea
mind. Hence, more wider scale and options should be included along with detailed report.

Describe your preferred action plan: Write a clear statement of what you would recommend including
short, medium and long-term steps to be carried out.
Short term Plan
Feedback process should be immediately discussed with the HR and if possibly with the team members to avoid
creation of any untoward behavior or attitude

Medium Term Plan

Regular meetings alongwith the anonymous feedback should be the part of the process to communicate more
clearly and avoid any opaque view between members and Managers.
