● Elder Villar’s older brother joined the church and later served a mission. Elder Villar visited his brother
hoping to spend a day playing and talking. The brother missionary had other plans and they spent the
day contacting and teaching people the gospel.
○ ‘None of the lessons were specifically designed for me but I was taught the gospel’
○ Look for people to teach
○ ‘I was a missionary without even being a member of the church’
○ You don’t have to be a missionary with a tag to be a missionary
● When we trust in God when faced with doubt, we are using spiritual muscles.
● Come follow me, seek, love as the Savior does
● If we went to increase our faith do things to make that so
● We cannot expect to simply attend church meetings and participate in programs and gain enough … to
… stand in the evil day.
● The ultimate responsibility lies with each one of us for developing spiritual strength and stamina.
● If all we know about Christ and the restored gospel is what other people teach or tell us then the
foundation of our testimony of him and his latter day work is built on sand. We cannot rely upon gospel
light and knowledge from other people, even those we love and trust.
● If we read all there is to know about the relation between God and man we would know very little of it.
Knowledge can only come from the ordinances of God set forth for these purposes.
● Implications of home centered…
○ Primary missionary training centers are home, secondary are in Provo, etc.
○ Sunday school classes are in home, helpful but secondary are in church
○ Family history is in the home, secondary support is in church
○ Preparatory classes (mission, temple) is in our home, secondary at church
● As important the home centered, church supported program is today, it will become more important in
the future.
● Because of its sacred nature we are hesitant to say anything about what happens inside to our children.
As a result, our youth are ill-prepared and have little desire to seek their temple blessings.
● Guidelines…
○ 1. We should always speak about the temple with reverence. We should not disclose or
describe the symbols we receive in temple ordinances, nor the things we promise
○ 2. The temple is the house of the Lord.
■ Everything points us to our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.
■ We may discuss these principles.
■ Let us speak more earnestly and comfortably about how we feel.
● We should share the spiritual feelings we have in the temple and purposes of the temple.
● The doctrinal purposes of temple ordinances have been taught extensively by church leaders.
● We can teach people about the law of the gospel, sacrifice, chastity, and consecration
● Temples.churchofjesuschrist.org
○ Excellent resources to help us teach our children/others are there.
● We should read Exodus 22-23 and Leviticus.____
● Promise that enabling blessing will flow into your life as you embrace home center church supported
gospel instruction
● Our sins can separate us from God for a time but cannot separate us from the constancy of God’s
eternal love
● Nothing can separate us from the love of God
● Story of Emily who became addicted to drugs
○ ‘The beginning of deliverance didn’t feel like deliverance at all’
○ Everything is going to be alright with the Lord’s help
○ Emily’s healing took months, with treatment, counseling, in addition to divine support
● Be filled with Peace Love and Joy
● Deliverance can take longer than you’d like but there is an immediate goodness of God
