Thinking Inside the Box Assignment

Tiger Reed

1. Everything Coding

2. Concepts:

Everything Coding is a kit that teachers and caregivers can use with kids in 3rd-5th grades to
introduce them to computer coding and activities that will help them to understand how computers
work and the languages that program them. This will give kids and their teachers and caregivers an
introduction to digital literacy that will prepare them to utilize technology as it advances. Learning basic
coding also helps kids to hone the skills they have already been learning in the classroom, including
math, writing, and critical thinking. The Everything Coding kit is also meant to bring caregivers and their
kids closer as they try each activity and explore the kit together, each person learning new things and
strengthening their bond. Homeschool families and groups will find the Everything Coding kit
particularly useful. When finished using this kit, children should have a better understanding of coding
fundamentals, as they will have experienced coding in different ways: by reading, playing, and
completing the included activities.
