Domestic Violence

I wanted to learn more about domestic violence because it is an ongoing topic in society.

I also see a lot of movies with domestic violence, where it’s hard for women to leave. I want to

research how the media affects domestic violence and who is affected from domestic violence. I

think the media affects domestic violence in society. People see domestic violence in movies and

tv shows and think it is okay to abuse their spouse.

I feel there needs to be an easier way for women or men, in some cases, to get out of the

abusive relationships. I wonder what triggers the person in a relationship to want to abuse their

spouse. I witnessed domestic when I went to Chicago at a restaurant/ in the parking lot.

The man kept grabbing the girl out the restaurant. When they got to the parking lot, he was

hitting and punching her. The women tried to break away, but the man would not let her go. The

police arrived to diffuse the situation. This is domestic violence because a partner in the

relationship was being violent and aggressive towards his spouse.

I feel sad and angry about this topic. Being in a relationship should bring joy and

happiness with two people. It should bring two people together that are inseparable, but with

domestic violence it brings hatred and no love. Domestic violence affects more than just the

victim in the situation, which makes it worse. I think that domestic violence needs a good

solution that will keep the abuse away from that relationship. People come up with a solution,

but the solution is not long lasting. I believe there is more that can be done about domestic

violence rather than restraining orders or running away from the problem. The problem can

always come back and there is no second plan. I know that is it tough to get away from domestic

violence because they think there is no other way to leave or they have nowhere else to go. I

know that some spouses do not want to go away from their relationship because they think they

are getting abused because there spouse loves them.

I am interested to learn the reasons why the spouses don’t leave the relationship if they

are getting abused and how it affects everybody in the household that is witnessing the abuse.

Also, I would like to know solutions that people came up with to prevent or decreases the

percentage of domestic violence. I want to start my research with the impact the media has on

domestic violence. What is the reason that people abuse their spouse? What is the purpose of

abusing the spouse? How can you fight back against domestic violence? If you love your spouse

so much, why is it so easy to abuse them?
