BUSINESS STATISTICS (MBA-105)


INSTRUCTIONS:
(i) The question papers must be typed in the format provided. Technical terms should be written
in the capital letters.
(ii) Please avoid using multiple choice types questions, TRUE/FALSE and Fill in the blanks type
questions in the question paper.
(iii) Every question and every part of a question should be in clear language and free from
ambiguity. Split down even relatively short sentences if they contain a lot of
condensed information.
(iv) Repetition of a question must be avoided.
(v) File should be sent in MS-Word Format.
(vi) Font size of the content should be Arial (font size 12).
(vii) Where the question papers are set in Hindi & English, the Hindi Version of the question
should be followed immediately after each question of English Version.
(viii) In case of MBA, Section-C may contain case studies/ Numericals (atleast 04)

c) Find the probability that in a random arrangement of the letters of the word

e) A box contains 6 red, 4 white, and 5 black balls. A person draws 4 balls from the
box at random. Find the probability that among the balls drawn there is at least 1 ball

UNIT-V
a) a) A committee of 4 people is to be appointed from 3 offices of the production
department, 4 officers of the purchase department, two officers of the sales
department and one chartered accountant. Find the probability of forming the
committee in the following manner:
(i) There must be one from each category.
(ii) The committee should have at least one from the purchase
department.
(iii) The chartered accountant must be in the committee.

b) A manufacturing firm purchases a certain component, for its manufacturing


process ,from three sub-contractors A, B and C. These supply 60%, 30% and 10% of
the firm’s requirement respectively. It is known that 2%, 5% and 8% of the items
supplied by the respective suppliers are defective. On a particular day, a normal
shipment arrives from each of the three suppliers and contents gets mixed. A
component is chosen at random from the day’s shipment. If this component is found
to be defective, what is the probability that it was supplied by -

c) Define scope of statistics in various fields of management.
