Colored Pencil Drawing - Texture

Assignment/Objective: ​Students will create a rendering, in color, referencing a zoomed in image of an
animal/reptile eye using colored pencil. Students will demonstrate understanding of how to mix, layer and
burnish with colored pencils. This project is worth ​100 points​.

Materials:​ Color image of animal eye (provided by teacher), colored pencils.

Grading Criteria: Poor Fair Avg. Good Excellent

DRAWING is accurate (closely resembles original picture)
COLORING is accurate (closely resembles original picture)
Colors are bright and vibrant
Application of colored pencil techniques (layering, mixing &
burnishing)
Entire surface is colored (no white showing through… anywhere!)
Obvious use of contrast, value, texture, tints and shades
Use of class time
Display of skill and effort
Overall neatness & good craftsmanship
