 After watching the trailer, they will look at the prediction
statements provided by the anticipation chart and decide
whether they agree or disagree with each prediction.
 As the students read the book Esperanza Rising, they will recall
the predictions that they made. As their predictions are
proved/disproved, they will write the page number where they
found the evidence, and also reflect on the prediction that they
made.

SUMMARIZING
STRATEGIES: The students will fill out a graphic organizer/chart that will display the
predictions they made, and will prove or disprove their predictions.
How will students summarize By filling out this chart, the students will be able to see the differences or
what they are learning during similarities in their predictions and the actual book. The students will add
