Executive Director

Northwest Sinfonietta

Founded in 1991, Northwest Sinfonietta is a 35-member chamber orchestra that presents innovative
classical music performances to audiences in the greater Puget Sound region and beyond. The
orchestra’s subscription season includes 5 concert cycles performed at Tacoma Arts Live’s Rialto Theater
in Tacoma and the Pioneer Park Pavilion in Puyallup. A highly acclaimed ensemble, Northwest
Sinfonietta is the premier chamber orchestra of the Seattle/Tacoma area, and in 2015 was awarded the
Washington State Governor’s Arts Heritage Award.

Northwest Sinfonietta performed its first 24 seasons under the musical direction of co-founder
Christophe Chagnard. Commencing with the 25th Anniversary Season, Northwest Sinfonietta adopted an
Artistic Partner model in which artistic decision-making is shared amongst musicians and board
members. Features of the model include:

1) Artistic Partners who collaborate with Northwest Sinfonietta across multiple seasons on
both programming and artistic quality, and are internationally known
conductors/performers. David Lockington and Yaniv Attar are currently serving as Principal
Artistic Partner and Artistic Partner, respectively.
2) Musician-led (un-conducted) concert programs, which provide the orchestra with new
opportunities for artistic collaboration and give audiences a uniquely intimate concert
experience.

The Position:

The ED serves as a liaison between and promotes collaboration among the orchestra members,
Operations Manager, Personnel Manager, Artistic Partners and the Board of Directors. The ED hires and
supervises a small staff.

The ED takes a leadership role in fundraising for the organization through active involvement in donor
development. The ED encourages and leads fundraising by the board.

The ED is responsible and accountable to the board for the organization’s management and operations
including budgeting and financial planning, marketing and audience development, public relations,
concert production and contract negotiations. The ED will work closely with the board on strategic
planning, grant writing and education and community engagement. The ED ensures that the
organization achieves artistic, financial and organizational goals.

Qualifications:

 Successful management experience and excellent communications skills


 A proven track record of fundraising success
 Familiarity with marketing strategies, including use of social media
 A working knowledge of music, artists and repertoire

The ED’s salary and benefits will be competitive and commensurate with experience.
