My professional growth goal is...
To develop a clear curriculum for my program. I would like to understand which functional life skills my K-3rd grade program
should be teaching in order to prepare my students for the next classroom.

How will attainment of my goal be measured?

I will measure this goal by developing a curriculum. When the curriculum is done I will know I have reached my goal. I will track
the progress of the work I do independently as well as with colleges. I understand over the years we might need to adjust the
curriculum so I am not sure it will ever truly be complete.

Describe the methods/strategies/activities that will be used to accomplish my goal.

I will break down the functional life skills goals of the students. I know this is very broad because each student is going to
develop differently, but I would like to know what time frame each skill should be mastered at. For example potty training, I have
most students fully potty trained but I have 2 that should be closer to potty trained. Students are able to wash their hands
independently, but getting dressed after swim in a challenge for them. I want to develop a clear outline and focus on creating
PECS for the students and SOP's so they can have visual guidance. I will develop lesson plans around these functional life
skills and practice. I believe there is a greater challenge in coaching staff to have more patience with the students who are
learning these life skills. I will work to address this challenge as well but having team meetings once a week.

What resources or support will be needed to reach my goal?

I will need time to collaborate with coworkers to develop expectations for each program. I will also want to observe two other
classrooms in our state to see how they are running their functional life skills program. I would like time to meet with my team
once a week for 30 minutes at a time before the children come. I will request my staff begin to get paid at 8:00am one morning
a week.
