College Application Narrative

In many regards, to find a place of solitude and complete enjoyment is to find happiness

and to find purpose. An environment as such can be extremely valuable to the mind and soul. For

me, it happens to be the studio room that my friends and I have set up for music purposes. In this

room there are vibrations of creativity that seemingly resonate through the individuals inside.

Being in the room provides a feeling of comfort knowing that everything needed to create and

work is all available. No other place allows for this feeling of freedom and expression that this

place does for me. To have the privilege of being able to access this place is cherished by all of

my friends and me.

While in the studio room, I can leave all outside factors behind and focus strictly on

creating and working. While there I can always find a task, whether its bringing new ideas to the

table to introduce to my peers, organizing our materials, familiarizing myself with the tools

available, practicing and creating new material, or prepping for the next project. With this comes

the comfort of knowing that there is always something to do in order to keep from boredom. I do

not believe that I will ever feel I have spent enough time there. This place truly is one of the most

important places to me.

There are many aspects of this environment that make it meaningful to me. One reason is

that I can confidently say that I have had my best memories there. Every time I enter the room

with my peers, the only thing that I experience is positivity and freedom. The bonds I have made

with my friends will always be traced back to this room. Before having access to this place I

never had the sense of ability like I do now. The appreciation I hold for this place is beyond

explaining. I can confidently say that because of this place I have become a much more work

driven person. By showing me that even what I enjoy requires effort and time, I learned to

appreciate proper work ethic. If I had never found my bearings in creativity with this studio

room, I very well may have turned out to be somewhat of a slacker, putting as little effort as

possible into all aspects of what I do.
