“Computer Basics” covers PCs, helping you to have the right information when you’re

Lesson 1: Introduction to Computers


Students who have very little experience with computers can learn the basics in this
class. The goal of this introduction is to illustrate how important computers are in
modern society and their value in solving problems. Fundamental operations and
functions of the computer will be covered.

Lesson 2: Computer Basics


This lesson is separated into 6 different Specific topics including: Parts of a Computer,
What to Look for When Buying, Setting up a Safe Work Area, Windows OS, Virus
Protection, Getting Your Computer Up and Running.

 1. Parts of a Computer You Should Know

When you’re not comfortable with a computer, you need to start with the essentials
the parts of your computer. You don’t need to be a computer professional, either.

 2. What to Look for When Buying

By thinking about your computer needs, you can choose a computer that not only does
the job, but also fits your budget.

 3. Most Commonly Used Computer Terms

Here is a list of the most commonly used computer terms.

 4. Setting Up a Comfortable and Safe Work Area

One thing that are easy to forget when buying and using a computer is your comfort.

 5. Windows OS, Virus Protection and Other Software That Should Be Set Up

Introduction to Windows OS & Installing Other Software, If you don’t plan to be on the
Internet, then you don’t have to worry so much about security and viruses, but since
most people are online, it’s good to have a discussion about security.

 6. Getting Your Computer Up and Running

Many new systems today will be able to be plugged in without any work on your part,
This lesson will cover the basics of setting up a computer that doesn’t work in this way.
