Steet 3.1.2 Bede. @ OPERATING RESTRICTIONS This section states limitations that have been placed on the rig and must be adhered to. aa variable Deck Load To maintain stability, the vertical center of gravity of the loaded rig shall be limited in accordance with the values in Table 1.1, which were derived from Figure 17. The estimated deck loads within these limits are shown in Table 1.2 and Section 2.4. See Section 3.3.4 for excess deck load definition and instructions for jettisoning excess deck load. Variable Deck Load Variable deck load shall include all loads that are not part of the permanent hull and equipment list included in Lightship as defined in Section 2.3. It shall include: crew Personal Effects stores Casing and Drill Pipe Hook Load Riser and Guideline Tension Day Tank Liquids Dry and Liquid Cement and Mud Diverter and Diverter housing Blowout Preventers (if stored on deck) Slip Joint and Riser © Wireline Logging Unit Mud Logging Unit TV camera Grapnel and Shepherd’s Hook Forklift © Inner barrel of the slip joint should be carried as a drilling area load during drilling operations. The outer barrel of the slip joint and riser will be riser tension loads if in the water. otherwise, they will be included as deck load shown at their storage locations. Hull tank liquids shall not be recorded as deck load but shall be entered on Form 1. PART 3 ~ OPERATING PROCEDURES SEDCO 702 NOVEMBER 1992 Marine Operations Manual Rev. 5#kAKe Since variable deck load is carried high on the rig, it is very important for safety to control the amount carried. All loads brought aboard shall be accounted for and recorded on Daily Report Form 1 when in calculating weight of the variable deck load. If there is doubt about whether an item should be counted as deck load or part of lightship, it should be treated as deck load until the question can be resolved. The limitations shown in Table i.1 provide safety against capsizing or excessive rolling or pitching due to: 1, Exposure to severe storm conditions. 2. Damage to any hull or column compartment. 3. Lack of positive stability. (2) Additions to Lightship (see section 2.3.2) only modifications of a permanent nature affecting rig structure and/or equipment are to be listed as "Lightship additions" and entered in Form 3 (for definition of Lightship see 2.3.1). Portable or semi-portable laboraties, compressors, pumps etc. and any other gear brought onboard by the operator for temporary use shall be recorded on the Daily Report Form 1 as a variable deck load. NOTES: (1) THE CONTROLLING CONSIDERATION IS THE MAXIMUM VCG VALUES OF FIGURE 17 AND TABLE 1.1. (2) The allowable vcGs_must be reduced if free liquid surfaces are not limited in accordance with the detailed scr ibs 4 Table 8 and Form 1). RIABLE DECK LOAD IS 3,400 ST.
