Securing Passengers Before Transport

Here at transport services, we care about our passengers and their safety. As transport operators,
it is our responsibility to ensure our passengers are transported to their destination safely. Please
follow the all the below requirements when preparing to transport passengers.

1) Securing Seatbelt
Some passengers will have assisted walking tools such as a cane or a walker. After assisting
passenger to the transportation vehicle, follow the below safety steps to ensure the passenger
is secure during transportation.
a) Assist or direct passenger to sit all the way back in seat and to place head against the
headrest.
b) Locate the seatbelt that is on the left side of the passenger’s head attached to the inside
of the vehicle.
c) Instruct or assist passenger to pull seat belt over their chest. Refer to figure 1.

d) Ensure the seatbelt also crosses over the waist or lap of the passenger.
e) Assist or direct passenger customer to adjust shoulder belt so that it fits their body
securely before fastening the belt.
f) Assist or direct passenger to click and fasten the seatbelt into the buckle. Refer to figure
1.
g) Tug on the seatbelt on the waist to ensure the belt is secured in the buckle. Refer to
figure 2.

2) Securing Wheelchairs and Motorized Scooters
If a passenger has a non-motorized wheelchair or a motorized scooter, follow the below
instructions to ensure the safety of our passengers during transit.
a) Once the wheelchair or scooter is
loaded in vehicle, center the motorized
machinery between the four belt
attachments located on the floor.
b) Lock the breaks on the wheelchair or
scooter.
c) Attach and secure the front belt floor
attachments at the highest point of the
legs of the chair or scooter. Refer to
figure 3.
d) Attach and secure rear belts parallel to Figure 3.
the rear wheels of the chair or scooter.
Ensure the straps are at a 30-45 degree angle.
Refer to figure 4.
e) Tighten all 4 belt strap attachments.
f) Test the mobility of the chair or scooter by
trying to move it forward and backward to
ensure no movement is present.
g) Pull seat belt over the passenger’s chest. Refer
to figure 1 & 3.
h) Ensure the seatbelt also crosses over the waist
or lap of the passenger.
i) Adjust the shoulder belt so that it fits the
passengers body securely before fastening the
belt.
h) Tug on the seatbelt on the waist to ensure the Figure 4.
