a. Greetings

Good morning class!

Good morning ma’am!

How are you today?

We’re good ma’am.

d. Review

What was our previous topic class?

It is all about the energy sources.

Very good, we have two types of energy

sources. Can you please state it?

Ma’am renewable energy sources and

nonrenewable.

Excellent, what is the meaning of

renewable energy sources?

Renewable energy sources can be

replenishing with in the timescale of
human.

Good job, how about the non-renewable

sources?

It takes millions of year to replenish.

Very good class. We will have an activity

today I will be grouping you into 4 groups.
Each group will be given a box. Inside the
box are the different energy sources. Each
member will pick one and paste it in the
proper column. Classify it whether it is
renewable and nonrenewable energy
sources. Are you ready class?

Yes, ma’am!

This will be the group 1, 2, 3 and 4.

I will give you 3 minutes to finish this

activity. In a count of 3 you may start 1…
2… 3… go.

Renewable energy sources.

Solar energy, geothermal energy, wind
energy, hydropower, and wood.

Nonrenewable energy sources.

Natural gas, coal, oil and nuclear energy.

Very good class.

e. Motivation

We will be playing the game message

relay. A while ago I already group you into
4 groups. Each group will have a
facilitator. The facilitator will read the
situation and the last person of the group
will give the answer.

Okay ma’am.

Group number 1 arrange your line here

also the group 2, 3 and 4. The first in line
are the facilitators and the last person
should write in piece of paper the answer
of the group.

Okay ma’am.

(The game were started.)

Situation number 1, you saw your

neighbor burning his/ her waste. What are
you going to do?

Don’t let them continue this practice

because it’s very harmful to the health.

Situation number 2, some men are cutting

trees in the mountain and you know that
they don’t have any supporting papers to
do that. What are you going to do?

Report to proper authorities.

Stop them in cutting the trees.

Excellent, Now, you go to your proper
seats and settle down. All of you have the
same ideas and all of you will be rewarded
a plus 5 to our quiz later on.

a. Discussion

Who has an idea, about our topic for

today?

Ma’am it’s all about conservation of

natural resources.

Great job! Our topic for today is about

conservation and protection the natural
resources. Based on your assignment
class, what is the meaning of
conservation and protection?

The careful use of natural resources to

prevent them from being lost or wasted.

How about the natural resources class?

It is existing in nature and not made or

caused by people.

Very good, it is coming from nature.

How do we define conservation?

Anybody, please read Alex.

A careful preservation, protection, or

restoration of the natural environment,
natural ecosystems, vegetation, and
wildlife.

Class how do you conserve water at

home?

Ma’am we turn off our faucet when not in

use.

Excellent, because water is life. Why do

we consider that water is life class?

Ma’am because we need water to survive.

Very good, because our body is

consisting of 70% of water.

How about the protection? How do we

define protection? Please read Bon.
It is the action of protecting someone or
something, or the state of being
protected.

Thank you, how do you protect your love

one’s class?

Ma’am we assure their safety.

Very good, what else?

Ma’am we love them.

Okay, who has another answer?

We care for them ma’am.

Very good class! We can show our love
one’s that we are protecting them by
caring, loving and making sure that they
are safe.

Yes, ma’am.

Why do we need to protect our love

one’s?
Because we need them ma’am.

Excellent, just like our loved one’s the

natural resources are the primary needs
of humans, so that we need to love and
protect the natural resources that we
have.

How do we define natural resources

class? Please read Angel.

Materials or substances such as minerals,

forest, water and fertile land that occur in
nature and can be used for economic
gain.

Thank you, can you give one example of

natural resources that we have?

Ma’am plants.
Ma’am soil.
Water ma’am
Air ma’am

What if these resources will be gone in the

future? Is life possible without it?

No ma’am, because we need these natural

resources for our survival.
Very good class, we need these resources
for our survival.

I have some pictures here in the board. I

want you to observe each picture.

What does the first picture tell us?

We need to conserve water ma’am.

What should we do to conserve water?

Turn off the faucet when not in use

ma’am.

Great job class, how about the second

picture?

Ma’am we need to lessen the use of

fertilizer.

What do you think will happen to the soil

if administered with fertilizer every week?

The soil has absorbed very large amount

of chemical that may affect the plants that
grows to it.

Excellent! Fertilizer is harmful to the soil

and also to the plants.

In the next picture, what is your

observation?
Don’t cut trees ma’am.

Why are trees important to humans and

to other animals?

Ma’am it produces fruit that serve as food

to us.
It releases oxygen ma’am.

What does the three pictures represent?

Ways to conserve and protect natural

resources ma’am.

Very good, why do we need to conserve

and protect the natural resources class?

We need to conserve and protect the

natural resources that we have because
once that it’s gone we can’t make a new
one.

Because some of our natural resources are

limited and takes very long time to
replenish. And also for the future
generation use.

Yes, we need to conserve and protect the

natural resources for the future
generations.

And how will we do it?

We need to discipline ourselves ma’am.

We need to discipline ourselves in using

natural resources so that the future
generation can also use these.

Any question class?

None ma’am.

b. Application

In your ½ crosswise, explain why we need

to take care of the natural resources and
the earth.
(The students are busy in making their
essay.)

c. Generalization

How to conserve the natural resources

again class?

To conserve natural resources is to protect

or use them wisely without wasting them
or using them up completely.

Yes, conserving natural resources can

make them last and be available for the
future generations. This is what
sustainability of natural resources mean.
Each one of us should think about how to
make things sustainable.

IV. Evaluation

In page 301, the activity number six titled “How Do People Destroy Natural
Resources?” you need to copy and answer in a one whole sheet of paper.

Procedures

1. Study the Table 1 and tell if you have observed the activities listed in your
locality.

Table 1. Ways People Destroy Natural Resources.

Activities Effects on Natural Resources

(1) (2)
When roads are built, mountains are Damage natural habitats and/or kill
blown off using dynamite. plants and animals.
Rice fields are turned into residential
or commercial centers.
People cut too many trees for lumber
or paper or building houses.

up with the demands of a fast
growing population and
industrialization.
Too much mining and quarrying for
the purpose of getting precious
metals and stones and gravel.
Some farmers use to much chemical
fertilizers to replenish soil fertility.
Plastics and other garbage are
burned.
Cars, trucks, tricycles that emit dark
smoke are allowed to travel.

2. Discuss the effects of these activities on natural resources.

3. Write the effect. Some of the effects have already been listed in the table.
4. What can you do to conserve resources?

V. Assignment
1. Make a list of what is done in your school that help conserve natural
resources.
2. Make another list of what is done in your school that do not help conserve
natural resources.
