The demand will profesionalme, as an ideology and concept of actualization an ideal

job, is of increasing importance and became one of the benchmarks in assessing the
performance of environment officials of government bureaucracy. But the
understanding of the "grip" professionalism itself is still unclear and not yet popular.
Included among the professionals in the field of handling damage to the road.
Prayitno (2004:338) defines the meaning of professionalism "refers to the
commitment of the members of a profession to improve their professional capabilities
and continue to use the strategies he used in doing the work in accordance with the
profession.

In this research method used is descriptive research that is by describing the various
factors on research based on observation of the place of research, in taking the sample
using a sampling method which means that data collection is done against some of the
characteristics would be known. And carried out questionnaires, which can then be
analyzed by using Spearman Rank Correlation Statistics.
Based on the results of research conducted at the Public Works Department Serang,
the authors conclude that there is a positive relationship between professionalism and
strong work on the performance of 0.836 which means the professionalism of the
work will improve performance. While its influence is very strong and significant,
