SHIP MANAGEMENT/MARINE ENGINEERING DISCIPLINE

Applications are invited for the above and the admission is conditional to
eligibility, merit, medical fitness and other criteria established by the Government of
Pakistan, as detailed below:

Eligibility to Apply: (Only male citizens of Pakistan)

i) Qualification:At least 55% in H.S.C(Pre-Engineering)./equivalent examination

with Physics, Maths & Chemistry

Students from foreign boards shall have to submit Equivalence

certificate from Inter Board Committee of Chairmen(IBCC)

ii)Age: Not more than 20 years on 31st Dec., 2018(Year of application).

One(01) year relaxation for candidates from FANA/FATA,
Baluchistan & Azad Kashmir only. The date of birth is recognized
as per Matric(S.S.C.) or equivalent examination certificate.
Affidavit will not be accepted. Any candidate found to be over even
by one day shall be rejected and no appeal against it shall be
entertained.

iii) Entrance Test: A candidate shall have to pass the Entrance Test conducted by
Pakistan Testing Services (PTS) in English, Maths, Physics,
Chemistry & IQ.
iv) Medical Fitness: As per standards prescribed by the Ports & Shipping Wing. The
candidates will have to undergo Medical Examination at their own
expense. In addition passing of Eye Sight and Colour Vision Test
conducted at MMD (Mercantile Marine Department, Karachi)
after joining the Academy. Failures of this test will not be eligible
for admission in PMA.

Candidates from friendly countries:

Candidates from friendly countries are admitted on Government
to Government arrangements, subject to availability of seats.

Submission of Form:

Submit duly filled form by 10th August, 2018, at the address given below
along with original pay order/bank draft of Rs.2,500/- (Non-refundable) made
from any bank in favour of Pakistan Marine Academy, NBP Pak Marine

Selection Procedure:

Last date for submission of Application Forms is 10th August, 2018

Entrance Test by the Pakistan Testing Service (PTS) will be held on 19th
August, 2018 at designated stations.

Medical examination of short listed candidates will be held in 3rd week of

September, 2018 at designated Combined Military Hospitals.

Final selection will be based on PTS Result and Total Marks obtained in
Intermediate/equivalent examination(purely merit)

Last date for submission of HSC Marks Sheet is 10th Sep, 2108

20 seats(10 in each discipline) are reserved to be filled under Self Finance

Scheme

Branches(Ship Management/Marine Engineering) will be allocated after

joining the Academy on the basis of their merit position, medical fitness,
cadets choice and availability of seats

Training:

2 Years residential training at Pakistan Marine Academy Karachi, will commence

from 1st week of January, 2019.

Instructions for payment of Charges

Total charges for two years training amounts to Rs: 415,720/-
All the charges are payable in advance before commencement of each Semester.
Training Charges are subject to revision.
There is no fee waiver policy. However, dues of financially under-privileged cadets may be
deferred subject to good conduct and approval from the Command.
Candidates applying on Self Finance Scheme(SFS) are to submit additional pay order/
bank draft of Rs.300,000/- alongwith the application form as SFS fee.
Text Books
In addition to training charges, cadets are to pay text books charges for purchase of
text book (approx. Rs.13,500/-once only at the time of joining PMA). Academy will
ensure provision of stationery and text books.

Seamen Service Book

Nautical Cadets are to pay additional amount(as applicable approx. Rs. 14, 000/-) along
with 4th Semester Fee for issuance of Seamen Service Book (SSB).
Refund Policy
PMA will refund the training Charges subject to the following:
If a cadet does not join the Academy.
If cadets are declared unfit by Mercantile Marine Departmen, Karachi in Colour Vision Test
If a cadet leaves the Academy on the request of his Parents/ Guardian within 1st week of
commencement of classes & subject to approval of the Commandant.
Security Deposit will be refunded after completion of the course and subject to submission
of clearance certificate.
No amount will be refunded in case a cadet is withdrawn from the Academy on disciplinary
grounds.
