HS-LS2-7. Design, evaluate, and refine a solution for reducing the impacts of human activities on the environment and biodiversity.
How is the Particulate Matter Pollution distributed across various areas within a community? What factors are contributing to the differences in the distribution
and concentration of pollution across different communities?
How does Particulate Matter Pollution contribute to the development of Asthma?
What are some ways we can minimize or reduce our exposures to these pollutions?
Unit Summary:
In this unit, students will learn about the relationship between the environment and the community health. We will be focusing on one of the most common respiratory
disease, Asthma. After learning more about Asthma, students will be surveying their family and community members to see how many people have Asthma. They will
then learn about air pollution and conduct an experiment to collect particulate matter across different areas within the community. After they study the distribution and
concentration of pollution across various locations, they will be creating a presentation to their local health agencies to help minimize the impacts of the pollution
source.
Assessment Plan:

other new information that they’ve learned in the What I Learned column.
