Abstract

The study investigated the influence of parenting styles on students’ attitude toward

delinquency. 100 sample sizes were used for the study. There were 2 questionnaires parental

authority questionnaire (PAQ) and attitude toward delinquency (ATD). There were 5 research

hypotheses were designed and formulated for the purpose of the study. Correlation, Regression

and ANOVA statistic was used for the analyses of the study. Irrespective of gender, location and

age, the results of the analyses show that authoritarian parenting style of mother effectively

predicts students’ attitude toward delinquency while authoritative and permissive did not. In

parenting style of father permissive parenting style of father effectively predicts students’

attitude toward delinquency while authoritarian and authoritative did not. This study also

revealed that the age factor also affects the parenting styles and attitudes toward delinquency.

The age 16-18 shows higher rate of delinquency.
