environment
What materials will be used?
- Potting soil, Dixie cups, beans, water, table cloth, bowls, spoons

How will the learning environment be set up?

At their table there will be bowls of soil with spoons and beans they can pick from.
Instructional Procedures:

Day 1:
For the first 10 minutes I will be able to explain to the students our new lesson and what we will be doing during the
next week. This will get them excited to have our hands-on activity this week!
For the last 10 minutes of our 20-minute time, I will be asking questions about what they know about plant growth.

Day 2:
For the first 5 minutes we will go to the tables and be seated. The students will now have access to our materials for the
sprouting of our beans! Since yesterday was our introductory day, this is our time to plant the beans. In this time, I will
explain what to do.
In the next 15 minutes the children will put in the soil and their bean(s) in the Dixie cup. They will be able to water the
plant and set it on out windowsill to get sunshine.
Day 3:
In the first 10 minutes the kids will be seated at the table and will be able to water their plant. They will understand it
take a few days for the bean to sprout.
In the next 10 we will talk about what to continue to expect in the next coming days.

Day 4:
In the first 10 will be our observation times. They will get to say and record anything they see.
In the next 10 we will talk about what we see, if anything, and continue to talk about the plant process.
Day 5:
In the first 10 is our observation time. They might be hoping for any kind of growth at this point.
In the next 10 we will start a book about plant growth and patience
Day 6:
Similar to day 5.
10 minutes for observation, then the next 10 about our book.
Day 7:
Similar to the last days,
10-minute observation times. There is a chance we will see sprouts today and tomorrow!
Next 10 minutes to finish our book.
Day 8:
This day I am expecting sprouts! We will spend this day observing our sprouts and understating how we got to this point.
Day 9:
This will be our extra day if needed😊

https://easyscienceforkids.com/how-plants-grow-video-for-kids/

This is the best web site I found that is the most clear and interactive. I would recommend a parent using this with their
child because of the age group, however this site has videos, pdfs, printable and clear explanations of our topic. This is
good for kids to get a better understanding of plant growth

Differentiated Instructional Support: Describe how instruction can be differentiated (changed or altered) to meet the
needs of gifted or accelerated students: The accelerated students are able to do extra research of plants outside of
school with a parent. This will look like videos to watch or extra worksheets to have outside of class.

Vocabulary:
- Sprout
- Soil
- Growth

For teachers - Book on plants

- Computer w/ access to web sight

For students - Plant worksheets and observation papers (geared towards preschoolers)
- We will have a tv in our classroom to show the videos on the plant growth. The
other lessons will be hands on and will not involve much more technology.
