Title: Why PH is world’s 3rd biggest dumper of plastics in the ocean

The article discusses about the discrepancy between the study that was released by the two
well-known and reliable authority from outside the country. The Ocean Conservancy and McKinsey
Center for Business and Environment ranked Philippines as third of the biggest contributing country of
plastic pollution in the world’s ocean on October 1 2015 yet it was said in the article that:

” Yet the country reported one of the highest garbage collection rates in the region – with a national
average of 85% and nearly 90% in some dense urban areas.”

In the article it was said there that this discrepancy is due to the inappropriate distribution of
collected wastes. It was given emphasis there that the most problem are due to open dump sites that
are mostly located near the ocean, even that there is law that opposes the said act (Ecological Solid
Waste Management Act of 2000).

The article also recommend some ways of reducing or preventing the country from illegal
dumpsites or making a good way of collecting garbage; like making dumpsites that are accessible to
each provinces and providing a locator of garbage trucks if they delivered the collected garbage in the
right area.

But the proposed idea is kind of impossible and much costly considering the problems that our
country is facing, it’s not something that should be given emphasis right now but still it is a big problem
that needs to be help. At the back of big and costly solutions there may be some ways that aren’t
exorbitant such as; by reducing the wastes of plastics especially in households and turning this garbage
to some crafts that can help economically. In every garbage that have been collected in each place there
is a fact that most of it are compose of household wastes that is why this study will lead into ways
alleviating the household trash and how can every individual cope up to the disadvantages and make it
as a benefit to their lives.

Title: Would you eat this? On Nas daily

Nas daily- a popular documentation of videos about different world matters, which is also
popular worldwide had released a video about excessive and alarming food waste in America. In his
video he tells the world how America waste their food by throwing this good even though it is still
edible and their main reason is it’s not good to buy.
He said on his video that about 40% of their food goes trash because of the said reason. A fact
that it’s easier and cheap to throw these foods that to donate this will bring the entrepreneurs mind on
choosing their first option.
In a news article that is published on May 2018 by “The Guardian”- a popular news publisher in
US, that Americans waste150, 000 thousand tons of food each day and news stated that it’s due
compose mostly of health conscious who choose more fresh and new fruits than other one which is still
edible and good to it.
The discrepancy between our topic and this is that they produce so much food waste because of
most Americans don’t buy such food which are still edible because they can choose something better
but in the Philippines we produce so much because we have a big population and the likewise of the two
countries this food waste contributes a lot of carbon dioxide.
Despite of many countries suffering from hunger and poverty like African countries and
Philippines this excess food should be allocated in different country instead, too much productions
should be shared. In different view this will be a reference on how can we make use of food waste here
in the Philippines.
