Technology

Has technology and the Internet brought young people closer together?

This topic is a very debatable one, some believe technology and the internet has brought

the youth together. While others hate on the internet because they believe it has caused many

problems online. The internet can be divisive but I believe it actually brings more people

together, old and young. The reason why I believe that is because of my own witnessing and

experience. I will be using evidence to argue my viewpoint.

Technology is why we have the internet, It has brought many young people together.

According to ​debate.org​, 66% agree that in a way the internet does bring us closer, while 34%

disagree with this argument. The higher percentage shows that more people believe the internet

is not affecting us negatively. There are social media apps that are intended on getting others to

associate with each other. The majority of the youth are using these apps to become closer with

others who they are familiar with.

The internet is a place where people from all over the world can connect. According to

http://history.msu.edu​, the worldwide web has most definitely brought us together rather than

push us apart. Technology has made an impact and it brings the youth of the world together on

multiple platforms. Before the internet was made if people wanted to communicate from long
distances they would make letters. Letters take too long to send and receive, with technology you

can instantly send an email or message to someone across the world.

Many people and I believe the internet has helped but of course there are people who

completely disagree. Some people say that the main problem with the internet is that it gets you

to focus too much on the technology, rather than the people around you. I disagree with that

counterclaim because there is a majority of people who would rather do something physical than

virtual. The internet can provide you with information and more, but you will always be involved

more with the people in your life, not just your phone or laptop. Technology is here for us to

enjoy, but reality is what’s important.

In conclusion, I believe the internet brings the youth much closer together. My reasons

involve the convenience that technology has provided. With the internet, we can connect with

others from across the world and share our experiences. People disagree with technology because

they believe it causes isolation. I stand by my claim and suggest we all plan to just enjoy what

technology has done for our life. I have a plan to continue and convince opposing readers why

my argument is an accurate one, I will create a wordpress site on the good technology has done

for the world.
