The electric soft top of the A3 Cabriolet opens and closes very slowly or stops in the central
position.

Technical background
Slightly opened bypass valve on the hydraulic pump.
This bypass valve makes the hydraulic system pressure-less and must be opened when manually
closing the top.
If this bypass valve is not firmly closed after a manual use or service work, the above complaint occurs.
The bypass valve is opened and closed with a screwdriver.

Production change
The bypass valve is tightened with 4 Nm and fixed with locking compound.

Measure
The bypass valve must be firmly closed (4 Nm) and fastened with locking compound.
When working on the soft top the bypass valve must be firmly closed.

Checking or closing the bypass valve cannot be accounted under warranty.

A pump replacement is not permitted.

Customer information
Explain to the customer that after a manual operation the bypass valve must be firmly closed. The
hydraulic pump is in the boot behind the left side trim.
