Swim safety

Potential ideas
1.Host free swim lessons
- Target lower-income schools to give children the
opportunity to learn the basics of swimming and prevent
the risk of drowning or injuries in the pool
- Target Govalle Elementary school kids or other low-income
schools
- Partner up with Emler swim school or YMCA (where the
lesson can be taught at)
- Fundraise for transportation
2. Host a free cpr class for parents
- Target Govalle Elementary parents or other
low-income schools
- Fundraise for CPR classes
- Have parents sign up for classes that are
scheduled at multiple times for a more
accessible class
3. Create a swim safety pamphlet for kids & parents
- Create 2 pamphlets - 1 for children & 1 for adults
- Children Pamphlet:
- Visual infographics to present to children what to do if they fall in
accidently
- Basic swimming techniques (ex: doggy paddle)
- Tips on how to be safe at the pool & open water
- Adult Pamphlet:
- Tips on how to keep children safe at the pool & in open water
- What to do if you see a child drowning
- Pass out pamphlet to lower-income schools and post around
the city
4. Basic swimming techniques Youtube channel
- Videos would be split into 3 categories:
- Swim Lessons & techniques
- Tips on how to be safe in the water
- What to do in the case of an emergency
- Swim Lessons
- Doggy paddle, freestyle, how to float, etc.
- Water/Swim Safety Tips
- No running, no roughhousing, watch out for danger flags or signs,
etc.
- Emergency!
- CPR tips/techniques & emergency numbers
LCRA & Swim Safety talk
- Guided tour about water sanitation
(1 hour)

Oak Hill Elementary class
- We will provide the basic swim safety tips while the
