Easter week or holy week in UK

In the UK this week is very important because, the Christian´s remember the last week of Jesus’
life and that’s why the people don’t work, also they do a lot of fun activities for instance they buy
some Easter eggs and Easter bunnies of chocolate and then, they give these to their friends.

The eggs have many utilities in this holiday; first, they paint or decorate the eggs for competitions
or exhibitions. In the competitions they go to a hill and throw the eggs, the fastest egg is the
winner. Finally, they have an Easter Monday, this day they go to the church early in the morning
because the mass begins before the sunrise.

Holy week- Easter week in Ecuador

In Ecuador the holy week is a special holiday because the Ecuadorians are very Catholic whence
we have a lot of things to do in this week. It starts with the Palm Sunday, in Quito people go to the
church and bless the palms, also this activity means the arrival of Jesus into Jerusalem. After that,
we do other special activity, we prepare the fanesca, this food is typical in this week and it has a

In this celebration we have a lot of processions for instance in Quito the most important is “Jesus
del gran poder”, in this procession participate a lot of people and there are a lot of “cucuruchos”,
they carry a cross and wear purple clothes.
