OF THE TERRORIST ATTACKS IN SRI LANKA

by Rick Heizman, April 23, 2019

ISIS funder, former Colonel Shahid Uddin Khan - his dangerous involvement

Four months previous to the attacks in Sri Lanka on April 22,

2019, a large sum of money was sent to Sri Lanka from United
Arab Emirates. It was sent by Bangladesh-born ISIS funder
former Colonel Shahid Uddin Khan, who has been living in the
United Kingdom for the last few years along with his family.
Former Colonel Shahid Uddin Khan used illegal channels in
transferring an amount equivalent to $92,000 US. This money
was sent from Dubai to Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Living in the United Kingdom, former Colonel Shahid Uddin

Khan, his wife, and daughters have formed an organization
named ‘Astha’ through which they are persistently trying to
mobilize civilians and military personnel in Bangladesh with the ulterior motive of unseating
the government of Bangladesh, and other countries, through coups or other means, and
replacing them with an Islamic Caliphate. Moreover, according to newspaper reports (Blitz,
The Eastern Herald), the family is deeply involved in terror-financing.

According to various intelligence agencies, former Colonel Shahid Uddin Khan hails from a
radical Muslim family while his wife Farjana Anjum also hails from a similar family
background. This couple’s 3 daughters are living and being educated in the UK and are said
to be notoriously radicalized and are working as ‘lone wolves’. They have been targeting
various individuals and trying to radicalize them or convert them to Islam.

In 2005, Colonel Shahid Uddin Khan was dismissed from the Bangladesh Army on 28
charges of corruption, smuggling, threatening reprisals against those who testified against
him, and destroyed his computer hard disc to wipe-off any evidence. (sacked) Colonel
Shahid Uddin Khan had become wealthy by collaborating with smugglers when he was sent
to the Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) on deputation. Later in 2007, he wheeled and dealed illicitly,
smuggling a few million dollars to the UK, where he, along with his entire family, immigrated
under investor category.

According to intel, (sacked) Colonel Shahid Uddin Khan has his hands behind a number of
recent terrorist attacks in Britain. Moreover, he has been enthusiastically funding anti-
Semitism in the UK as well as the conversion of non-Muslims to Islam.

ISIS plot to destroy Buddhist monuments thwarted

On January 17, 2019, the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of
Bangladesh Police, based on secret information, raided House No. 184, Road No. 2,
Baridhara DOHS in Dhaka, Bangladesh. This house is owned by (sacked) Colonel Shahid
Uddin Khan and was allegedly used as a warehouse for arms, explosives and propaganda
materials of Islamic State (ISIS). During the raid, large volume of weapons, detonators,
counterfeit Bangladesh currency notes and jihadist materials of ISIS were recovered by the
CTTC unit. It was said that these items belonged to a chapter of ISIS in Sri Lanka, The foiled
ISIS plot was to simultaneously obliterate a multitude of sacred Buddhist monuments in the
ancient city of Anuradhapura with C4 high explosives. Furthermore, authorities in Sri Lanka
have confirmed that the massive explosives seizure at a remote compound in
Wanathawilluwa was actually a training camp for the Islamic State (ISIS).

Following this operation, three separate cases against (sacked) Colonel Shahid Uddin Khan,
his wife Farjana Anjum, daughters and other accomplices were filed. The cases are:

• Cantonment PS, Case no 10, Section-6(2)/7/11/12 of Anti Terrorism Act 2009 (amended 2013)

• Cantonment PS, Case no 11, Section-25-A, Special Power Act 1974

• Cantonment PS, Case no 12, Section-19-A of Arms Act 1878.

(sacked) Colonel Shahid Uddin Khan extends his tentacles to USA

Islamic State (ISIS) funder, (sacked) Colonel Shahid Uddin Khan, his wife Farjana Anjum and
their 3 daughters are already under the radar of international scrutiny for their direct
involvement with jihadist activities. They even have such activities in the USA.

An Indian newspaper, The Eastern Herald, said, M. Sajjad Hussain, a man living in Houston,
Texas, USA, is one of the top accomplices of ISIS funder (sacked) Colonel Shahid Uddin
Khan. Sajjad, being the lapdog of Shahid, has been spreading radical Islam and jihadism in
the US for a number of years. He is not only helping ISIS in spreading its messages in the
US, Sajjad is also collaborating with Shahid in ousting the democratically elected
government in Bangladesh through a coup. This racket already is targeting Directorate
General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI) officials to sway them into supporting a coup.

Sajjad is a self-proclaimed agent of Pakistan’s espionage agency, Inter Service Intelligence

(ISI). He has been an active agent of Pakistani spy agency Inter Service Intelligence (ISI) and
also was one of the key accomplices of (sacked) Colonel Shahid Uddin Khan in coordinating
with local and international networks of Islamic State infiltration.

2
The Eastern Herald, on January 15, 2019 published an exclusive report exposing activities of
Sajjad Hussain. The newspaper said, “In Bangladesh, M. Sajjad Hussain was living a posh life
although he does not have any valid source of earnings. His son, Asif Hussain was a student
of North South University, where he also was affiliated with [an Islamic terrorist] militancy
outfit named Hizb-Ut-Tahrir. Sajjad Hossain never hesitated in telling a few of his friends in
Dhaka of his connections with the Pakistani espionage agency Inter-Service Intelligence (ISI).”

The Eastern Herald further said, “Although he resides in Houston, Texas and still is living a
posh life, this ISI handler does not have any valid source
of earnings. His wife, Nahid Parveen Neeru works as a
deep-covered operative of ISI under her husband’s
command. It is learnt from credible sources, Nahid
Parveen Neeru connects with various targets in the
United States, mostly Christians, Jews and Hindus under
the disguise of a sex worker and extracts information as
per instruction of Inter-Service Intelligence (ISI).” Nahid
Parveen Neeru was also a paid mistress of (sacked)
Colonel Shahid Uddin Khan.

It has been suspected that (sacked) Colonel Shahid Uddin Khan and his gang were plotting
terrorist attacks in a number of South Asian nations, and it is near certain that he has his
hands in the Sri Lanka attacks.

ISIS penetration into Sri Lanka

The problem of the Islamic State has been rampant in Sri Lanka since 2016. That year the
Parliament was told that 32 Muslims from elite families had joined the ISIS. The following
year, scores of Sri Lankan ISIS terrorists had returned from Syria, following which there was
a spike in Jihadi activity. Vicky Nanjappa in OneIndia, April 21, 2019, wrote, “Sri Lanka has
seen a spike in Jihadi activity since 2017.”

It may also be recalled that a postgraduate student from Sri Lanka, Mohammad Nizamdeen
was charged with ISIS affiliated terror related offense in Australia. He was accused of being
part of a plot to assassinate an Australian politician. He is the nephew of MP Faiszer
Musthapha, a cabinet minister in the Sri Lankan government.

Warnings of imminent attacks

On April 11, 2019, the police got some intel that terrorists would target 11 churches in the
country. It warned that Catholics would be the target of the attack. At least ten days before
attacks, a Middle East based intelligence agency gave security officials a detailed warning of
a possible threat to churches by a local Islamist extremist group called National Thowheeth
Jama’ath (NTJ). Similar alerts were also echoed by a Western intelligence agency.

3
The National Thowheeth Jama’ath (NTJ) may also be known as the National Tawhid
Organization. Tawhid [Arabic = monotheism; affirmation of the Oneness of Allah] is Islam’s
absolute monotheism that sees every other religion as idolatrous.

But the warnings were not conveyed even to Prime Minister Ranil Wickremersinghe!

Now authorities are investigating the reasons behind such dismal behavior of the Sri Lankan
intelligence agencies.

From a document obtained by Blitz (a Bangladesh newspaper that has been boldly
confronting radical Islam), it is learnt that the Sri Lankan authorities had issued an advisory
on April 11, 2019 alerting the law enforcing agencies to remain vigilant about terrorist attacks
against churches. But, it seems little or no action had been taken by any of these law
enforcing or security agencies for the sake of ensuring safety and security to the people.

The Saudi / Wahhabism connection

In recent decades Sri Lankan Muslims began to find employment in Saudi Arabia, and many
young Sri Lankan Muslims were awarded scholarships by Saudi universities. However, those
who completed their studies returned to Sri Lanka and spread the ideology of Wahhabism -
extremist, intolerant, violent, supremacist Islam.

Celebration or the terrorist attacks by ISIS funder (sacked) Colonel Shahid Uddin
Khan and his wife Farjana Anjum

According to information, on hearing the news about jihadist attack in Sri Lanka, ISIS funder
Shahid Uddin Khan and his wife Farjana Anjum made several long-distance phone calls to
their cohorts and jihadist contacts in the world and expressing joy at the Colombo blasts.
