Introduction
"SMS Module for Tally.ERP 9" is a unique CRM tool that helps you Stay-in-Touch with
your customers, distributors, dealers, resellers, agents, other business associates and
even your employees in a very cost effective manner using the powerful medium of
SMS communication.

It helps to keep your Customers, Dealers, Selling Agents or your own Sales team
informed about New Product Launches, Features, Product Updates or Stock Positions.

Instantly inform your Customers as soon as you record important transactions in Tally
like Material Dispatch or Cheque Receipts. Politely remind your customers about
Overdue Bills. Send Reminders to a Single Customer or Bulk Reminders for all
overdue bills or Form Reminders together with customer selection option.

Note: By Default, the SMS sending category is Promotional Category which will not
allow you to send SMS in DND Numbers. In this case, DND numbers delivery of SMS
is not possible. We will provide you with the credit of the SMS which were not delivered
due to NDNC failure at the end of every month.

The other Category, Transactional Category allows you to send the SMS in the DND
Numbers.

What's New?
 SMS Module will from Tally.ERP Release 3.0 to Tally.ERP Release 6.0

Installation
This module is installed automatically when downloaded from the Tally Market Place.
You need to follow certain procedures that are detailed later. Also, if you are using an
Internet proxy you need to specify the proxy configuration in Tally.ERP 9.

System requirements
 Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 and Above.
 Internet Broadband Connection (while sending the SMS)
 If your using the Internet by proxy then make the proxy configuration in
Tally.ERP9

The setup will require some supported “dll” & “exe” files which are listed below:

Important!
Take back up of your company data before activating the Add-on.

Detailed Setup Guide

1. Update your license by going to Gateway of Tally  F12: Configuration 

 (In case you are using multi-site account, you will need to configure Tally.ERP 9 to
activate the Add-on for a particular site. Click here for the steps.)
2. Shut down and Restart Tally.ERP 9 and open your company.
3. When you start Tally.ERP 9, you will see a message “Below listed supported files are
required to run the SMS Module”.

Press ‘Enter’ to download or ‘Esc’ to skip download. Then, it will ask you to confirm for
downloading the files. Please accept it.
Then, the file download process will start.
After completion of downloading process, it will show you the status. There after you
will not get message when you start Tally.ERP 9:

 4. Go to H: Help  Add-on Help to open the user manual.

5. Activate the Add-on.

For Tally.ERP 9 Series A versions lower than Release 3.2

Go to Gateway of Tally > F11: Features > Accounting Features
Set “Yes” to the option “Enable SMS Module"
Provide a name under SMS Signature (maximum 10 characters). This is the name
that will appear as ‘From Name’ in the message header.

 For Tally.ERP 9 Series A Release 3.2 and above
Go to Gateway of Tally > F11: Features > Add-on Features
Set “Yes” to the option“Enable SMS Module"
Provide a name under SMS Signature (maximum 10 characters). This is the name
that will appear as ‘From Name’ in the message header.

 6. Now you will see the SMS Module option in the Gateway of Tally. Then
select “SMS Module” from Gateway of Tally and select “SMS Setup”:

It will open the following SMS Setup Window that you have to fill up & click on Register.

Sender’s Mobile No: Please mention your appropriate Mobile number. After
Registration process, your User Name and password will be sending on this mobile
number.

User: By Default, your Tally Serial Number will be set as the User.

Sender ID: Please mention the Sender ID for your messages. As per the TRAI Rules,
the maximum character limit for sender ID is 6 & it should all Alphabetical characters.

 You can use your company name or initials for Sender ID. When you send the
Messages from Tally, then the recipients will receive the Message as “LM-(sender ID)”
E.g. LM–AWTPLM

Please be careful while entering the Sender ID. Once registered, the Sender ID cannot
be changed.

Note that by default, you sign up for our promotional SMS Service where you will not
get the Sender ID. This SMS will be sent with an ID as per the policies defined by TRAl.
You will get the requested ID only if you are registered in the Transactional SMS
Service.

After the Registration, the User Name and Password will be send on your mobile
number. The same will be also displayed on your screen:

User Name: (Tally Serial Number)

Password: (Password)

After clicking on OK, the password will be automatically set in the field. If not, please
enter the password. Select the option Edit Mobile Number and click on the Save

Group SMS Master:

Create the Group SMS Master. We will assign this group SMS Master to the Ledgers. It
will useful while sending the Group SMS. Go to Gateway of Tally  SMS Module 
Group SMS Master Creation

Assign Group SMS Master to the Ledgers:

Assign SMS Groups to Ledgers. Go to Gateway of Tally  SMS Module  Assign
Group SMS Master  Assign/Alter

Set “SMS Reminder” to “Yes” and select the appropriate Group SMS Master to the
Ledgers:

 To display settings and alter go to Gateway of Tally  SMS Module  Assign
Group SMS Master  Display

You will see the Report for the Group SMS Master. You can change the SMS Master
for the Ledgers. For this, select the required Ledgers and press “Ctrl+F5”:

Note: The above feature will update the Group SMS Master only for those Ledgers

 who’s “SMS Reminder” option is set to “Yes”.
You can also change the Group SMS Master and SMS Reminder option at the time of
creation and alteration of Ledgers. E.g.

Note: Enter Valid Mobile No. in the field. If you wish to send the International SMS, you
have to mention the country code. For Country Codes, operators and detailed Price

Send SMS from the Ledger

At the time of Ledger creation or Ledger Alteration, you can send SMS for Information
and for Wishes by just pressing CTRL + C
Button.

 Note: Please make sure that Message is not more than 160 Character including SMS
Signature Text. If this length is exceeded, the SMS will be split into multiple messages.

 Group SMS
Go to Gateway of Tally  SMS Module Group SMS

“Then please select the SMS List (SMS Group Master) which you have already created
and set in the Ledger Master. “

After selecting the SMS List, all the Ledgers in that particular SMS List will be
automatically loaded. Then, select the Ledgers and send the messages.

 Creation of New Message Templates
You can add & edit Messages in the Message Templates. To achieve this, you have to
do following steps. Right click on the Tally.ERP 9 Icon and select properties.

Then, click on the Find Target Button Open the file, “MESSAGETEMPLATE”

 Now, add or edit the messages as you required and save the file.

Now, you are ready to send the new messages.

 Single SMS
Now, you can instantly type and send the Messages to your Friends, Relatives and
other persons who are not created as Ledgers in the Tally.
Go to Gateway of Tally  SMS Module Single SMS
Type the Mobile Number(s) and the message and click on the Send SMS button.

Bulk SMS
You can also send the Messages to the Group of your Friends, Relatives and other
persons who are not created as Ledgers in the Tally.
Create and save these all contacts a Notepad file:

Then go to Gateway of Tally  SMS Module Bulk SMS

 You will get the window for the Bulk SMS. Browse and select the file created earlier.

Type the Message and click on the send button.

Auto Send SMS from the Vouchers

You can also send the SMS automatically from the following vouchers once you save
the voucher:
1. Sales
2. Delivery Note
3. Receipt
4. Purchase
5. Receipt Note
6. Payment
Example:
From Gateway of Tally > Accounts Info > Voucher Type > Alter > Select Sales Voucher

 While creation of entry, send SMS Automatically will be by default Yes & Preview
message will by default No
From Gateway of Tally > Accounting Voucher > Select Sales Voucher >
Preview Message: No & Send SMS Automatically: Yes

 You can edit the default message by say Yes to Preview Message before sending.
Similarly, you can also send the Auto SMS from above mentioned Vouchers.

SMS for Ledger Outstanding

Go to Gateway of TallyDisplay  Account Books Ledger  Bill wise (Ctrl+B)

(Note: You can also send the Reminders to all the Overdue Bills customers by using
the “SMS Overdue Reminders” Menu option, described earlier).
SMS Balance
To know the balance in your SMS account, go to Gateway of Tally  SMS Module

You will get a report like this:

International SMS
When you send the International SMS, the cost for the same will be deducted in the
form of SMS's. E.g. If you send the SMS to client in Australia, then 6 SMS will be
deducted from your SMS Balance. The Cost for this International SMS is as same as 6
National SMS.

Also, if you wish to send the International SMS, you have to mention the country code.

 Security Setup of SMS Module for the Tally Users
By default, every user will have the access to the send the SMS from Tally. If you wish,
you can set user rights in the security control. Go to Gateway of Tally Press Alt+F3
for Company Info  Security Control  Types of Security.

After expiry of the 100 Free SMS, you have to purchase the SMS Packages. We offer
here various SMS Packages at reasonable cost. To view & purchase the SMS

Say Yes to Preview Message & you can edit the message before sending

 I am using a multisite. Can I use the same Add-on for all the sites?
No, one Add-on will work only for 1 site. You need to purchase again if you want to use
the same Add-on for more sites.

How do I configure the add-ons?

If you are a Tally.ERP 9 Multi site user, add the Add-on to the required site as follows:
a. Press Ctrl + K or Click on Control Centre and log into your account
b. Go to Licensing & Configuration  TDL Management  F8: TDL
Config List  Select the site’s default TDL
c. Under ‘Specify Account TDLs for loading’, select the Add-on Name
and accept the screen.

d. Update your license by going to Gateway of Tally  F12:

I have upgraded to a new Tally.ERP 9 Release. What will happen?

Normally, the add-on will work fine without any glitches. If you face problems with the
Add-on, you can contact us for support.

Product and Features Page shows errors with the Add-on. What do I do?
Check first if the error is because of the Add-on or because of clashes between 2 TDLs
(An add-on is also a TDL). In case of clashes, disable one or more TDLs and check
which TDL has error. If the Add-on has a problem, you can report it to us.

 My Tally went into educational mode after installing the add-on. What do I do?
Go into Control Centre  Licensing & Configuration  TDL Management  F8:
TDL Config List  Select the site’s TDL configuration which has the Add-on and
remove the Add-on from the list. Update the license.

How do I find out if a new release of the Add-on is available?

Go to Control Centre  Licensing & Configuration  TDL Management and check
under version available Column.

How do I update to the latest release?

Go to Control Centre  Licensing & Configuration  TDL Management and check
under version available Column. If the version number shown under ‘Version
Available’ column is higher than the version number shown in Name of the Add-on,
select the Add-on and press F4 or click on F4: Download to download the new
version. Update the license and restart Tally after download.

How do I cross upgrade the Add-on from Silver to Gold Edition?

Go to Control Centre  Licensing & Configuration  TDL Management, select the
Add-on and press F6 or click on F6: Change Edition. Update the license and restart
Tally after download.

My Subscription for the Add-on has expired. How do I renew my subscription?

Go to Control Centre  Licensing & Configuration  TDL Management and check
under Subscription Expiry column. If the subscription is about to expire or expired,
select the Add-on, Press F5 or click on F5: Renew and fill in the required details to
renew your subscription. Update the license and restart Tally after download.

Will this add-on work in remote session?

No, this add-on will not work remotely.
