With pleasure and without hesitation, I write in strongest support of Alessandra Napoleon’s application to
teach music in your school. I served as instructor of record in two required music education courses in
which Alessandra excelled in her achievements. Notably, in those courses she demonstrated excellence and
growth in her presentation skills as a teacher and musician, and maintained clear communications
throughout. She became a leader in her trio of peers when assigned a group of 5th grade general music
students in which to complete 8 visits and 6 field-teaching experiences. Since those courses, I have not
been her instructor, nor was I fortunate to observe her during her student teaching semester. I have heard
excellent reports about her experiences from the instructor of record for the student-teaching seminar,
though, and enthusiasm for teaching from communications with Alessandra. In reflections about her
student teaching semester, she intentionally embraces students’ differences, strives to plan creatively to
manage students’ energies and interests, and realizes she will enjoy her continued learning and
development as an inservice music teacher.

I predict Alessandra would flourish as a music teacher in your school. She is reliable, thoughtful,
approachable, committed, musical, and excited to teach. I predict your administration, staff, teachers,
parents, and students would find Alessandra an asset to your school and broader community. We will miss
her at Temple University, but look forward to hearing about her successes as a music teacher!

Very truly yours,

Alison M. Reynolds, Ph.D.
