AARON LUGO

DEAR, MS. FIGUEROA

Coming into senior year was nerve breaking for me thinking I was going to be over

worked because we would have to worry about so many other things such as writing

essays and focusing on completing stuff for gradation and finding ways to get scholarships.

Plus my writing is not my best work so I have to work twice as hard as others because with

writing I struggle on keeping focus, staying on topic and finding evidence to support my

argument or claim. Over the years in English classes when writing I would sometimes turn

in the essays late because it was hard for me to keep the story straight without having

correct the teacher by what I mean. I feel that I made progress from junior year because

my writing was not as good as I wanted to be for me, I couldn’t do transitions to the next

paragraph well, but now I feel that I made it better by adding transition words to fit in with

it. I have learn a lot from my great English teacher because she made an easier way for me

to see the essays so I can stay on topic and focus on the essay. Looking at my strengths

now were the weakness I had struggle with writing my whole freshman year to junior year.

My strengths are staying focus, staying on topic and elaboration of evidence because in
my previous essay I had look back and reflected on them and thought to myself that I came

a long way from not good to average which is good to me, but I’m still improving with my

writing. I was reflecting on my Chaucer and my Social issue essay which are the ones which

made me feel that I improved from not being good at all. The portfolio is something that

it was going to be this big thing which I had thought was a time consuming assignment and

I would really have to be focused. Then it was just a way to keep our work organized and

ready for a presentation, but that’s how I think when I hear something that may need time

and focus to do. Now that I’m older though I look at it a different way to show myself or

others that I have improved in a short amount of time and can explain how writing or

anything I don’t do well that if I put a little time I could improve from staying focus and

putting my mind on it. Also that I’m a fast learner when I have a great teacher to guide me.

So when I find a job that may include writing I could show them my portfolio to show that

I can improve within little time when I put my mind to it to perform and get better. My

writing goals for the future are to improve every day because there is always more room

for improving on your skills and on yourself to be a better you.

Sincerely,

Aaron Lugo
