ABSTRACT

Rara Sinaga, NIM 1202045069, with a thesis entitled: "The interests of


Iran and Indonesia in oil and gas cooperation in the year 2016 " under the guidance
of Mrs. Aisyah S.IP, MA as mentor I and Mrs. Frentika Wahyu R, S.IP, MA as
mentors II, at the Department of International Relations, Faculty of Social and
Political Sciences, Mulawarman University, Samarinda.
This thesis examines the interests of Iran and Indonesia identified in oil and
gas cooperation between the two countries in 2016. The framework of this research
uses the theory of national interest. The type of research is qualitative explanative
using secondary data. Data collection techniques were conducted comprehensively
through Library Research.
The results indicate that both Iran and Indonesia have economic and
political interests through cooperation in energy. For Iran the established
cooperation becomes an opportunity to build the national economic post-embargo
crisis by increasing the value of cooperation between the two countries both in
energy and in other fields. Politically, cooperation with Indonesia is a strategy
undertaken by the Iran government to resolve global and international issues and
become an opportunity to rebuild existence as one of the largest oil and gas removal
countries in the world. Similarly, Indonesia is using cooperation with Iran to meet
national energy needs and open opportunities to build the country's economy
through relatively cheaper price by Iran. On the political interests of Indonesia can
improve the image of the country in the eyes of the world through the agreement of
both countries to build world peace.
