Cisco Packet Tracer User Interface (PTUI):

How to Change Default Language

Last updated 24 April 2017

Cisco Packet Tracer User Interface (PTUI) default language is English. The PTUI may be translated into different
languages to support regional efforts. Please contact your regional NetAcad representative if you want to support
this effort.

Please find below the instructions to change the default language from English into other language.

1) Copy the new language, for example French.ptl, file into the C:\Program Files\Cisco Packet Tracer
7.0\languages folder (This is the default installation location for the Packet Tracer files. If Packet Tracer
was installed to a different location, find the language folder in that main directory)

2) Start Packet Tracer

3) Click on Options | Preferences in the command menu

4) Select the language that will become the default language when Packet Tracer starts up in the Select
Language box at the bottom of the page

5) Click the Change Language button

6) Click “OK” to close the pop up message

7) Click on the “X” to close the Options | Preferences Window

8) Exit Packet Tracer. The new language will be used after a Restart.
