Q1. What are the main features of the Get Connected course?
A. The Cisco Networking Academy® Get Connected course provides an introduction to the digital
world with networks as a foundation for connecting people and things. The curriculum helps
students understand how to use computers and connect to the Internet. Get Connected also
explores the human network and introduces students to the world of social media. Students
experience the fun and value of interacting with others through common software applications and
tools.
Get Connected offers the following features:
 Illustrations and narrations guide students through each topic to help develop an
understanding of the connected world
 Videos and activities reinforce learning and keep students engaged
 Quizzes and a final exam measure student comprehension

Q2. What are the availability options for the Get Connected course?
A. The course is available as self-enroll as well as instructor led. Students can self-enroll to take the
course at their own pace in places and at times most convenient to them. The course can also be
taught by academy instructors in an academy classroom.

Q3. How can I access the Get Connected course?


A. Instructors can access and review the Get Connected course content by creating a class by clicking
on “Create a Course” on your NetSpace homepage, under the Teach tab. Students and instructors
can also access the course using the self-enroll version. To self-enroll in the course, click the
Offerings option on the top menu, select Self-Enroll Courses and look for the Get Connected self-
enroll link.

Q4. How long will it take to complete the course?


A. The course is designed to be completed in approximately 30 hours.

Q5. What are the prerequisites for this course?


A. There are no prerequisites to take this course.

Q6. Do I need any additional equipment to teach the course?


A. No additional equipment is required for this course.

Q7. Are current academy instructors required to complete additional instructor training to teach
Get Connected?
A. No, instructor training is not required academy instructors. However, we recommend that instructors
become familiar with the course before delivering their first class

Q8. Will there be teaching guidelines and other online support material available for
instructors?
A. Get Connected is an introductory course design for self-study. Although an instructor-led version is
available the instructor role is more like a mentor, guiding students if they have any questions. No
instructor support material will be available for Get Connected.

Q9. Will Get Connected help students prepare for a certification exam?
A. Get Connected is an introductory course that focuses on basic computer and Internet navigation
skills and is not aligned to any specific certification.

Q10. Is there a downloadable option for Get Connected?


A. There is no downloadable option for the Get Connected course and there are no plans to create a
downloadable version.

Q11. Will Get Connected be translated?


A. Yes, Cisco has translated the Get Connected course into Portuguese and Spanish. Other languages
are under revision and no dates have been announced.

Q12. What are the recommended browsers for Get Connected in Cisco NetSpace?
A. NetSpace performance is best with the two most recent versions of the following browsers: Mozilla
Firefox, Google Chrome, and Internet Explorer

Q13. Is there a certificate of completion or letter?


A. Students who complete Get Connected are eligible to receive a certificate of completion. After
instructors mark the students as complete in the grade book, students will receive an email notifying
them that a course completion certificate is available on their NetSpace user profile.
Instructors can print certificates for students by clicking the gear icon for the course on the Teach
tab and scrolling down to the Enrolled Students section. Under the Certificates/Letters column, the
instructor can click the Actions buttons to access and print certificates and letters. To learn more,

Q15. I’m an institution; can I join the Networking Academy program to teach only Get
Connected?
A. Yes, nonprofit learning and community centers are welcome to join the Cisco Networking Academy
Fast Track program. The Fast Track does not require instructor training or equipment purchases and
the following courses are available:
 Get Connected
 Introduction to the Internet of Everything
 Introduction to Cybersecurity
 NDG Linux Essentials
 Be Your Own Boss
 Entrepreneurship
