Artificial intelligence is a very common subject nowadays, due to it is a technology in

development that can change our life: from things like our work, scientific research to how we
clean and cook. This technology is based on the idea of creating machines with artificial
intelligence that can interact with the environment, and learn from it to used it in further
experiences; such tasks must be done autonomously, imitating human learning system.
Intelligent machines represent a big progress, however we must know the bigger picture and
analyze all the repercussions that brings with this technology.
Actually, intelligent machines can be very helpful in many fields, such as: military
industry, scientific research and chores. Unmanned aerial vehicle allow to complete extremely
dangerous task without jeopardize the crew. Also has been created intelligent machines than can
explore locations like seabed and some surfaces of outer space, places which human beings can’t
reach, allowing advances in the knowledge of the world we live in. Lastly, humanoids can
imitate human behavior and activities, therefore are useful to complete chores we don’t want or
can’t to do, like: cleaning, play with the children, etc.
Consequently, intelligent machines will be part of our lives in the next years. For this reason
we have to think about how our way of living will be transformed and the range of the
consequences. On the one hand we have an incredible technology that can make our lives easier,
but in the other hand we don’t know till what point is beneficial to provide machines with such a
complex system of learning. Inasmuch they are machines that are not affected by biological
factors, they could exceed human intelligence and become a threat. In short, intelligent machines
might not be controllable or at least not as much as regular machines and that is a fact we can’t
denied. Stephen Hawking (2014):”The development of full artificial intelligence could spell the
end of the human race… It would take off on its own, and re-design itself at an ever increasing
rate; humans, who are limited by slow biological evolution, couldn't compete, and would be
superseded “.
Then, artificial intelligence represents both pros and cons, so it is task of all scientifics find
out its range to know how much this technology can be developed without risks for mankind. I
think that it is time to make this topic object of serious scientific investigation because it is
extremely important to the future of our specie. As a result I want to invite to all the intellectual
force around the world to study every fact referent to artificial intelligence so we can approach to
a better understanding of this technology, in order to achieve a harmonic coexistence between
intelligent machines and mankind.
