Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

For my ELL and ESOL students, this will be a great way for them to use the game to help to creatively learn
about plants and their parts. I can print out the questions for students to take home and practice with the
help of their parents. I can also upload the questions onto the classroom website for students who need that
extra practice or those who did not make it to class. It also allows me to get a better understanding of what
they are getting through classroom instruction by their results.
Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.
Before the SRT activity, I will take the students outside where we will collect plants and bring them back into
the classroom. Individually, students will study their plant and share some things they notice about it. I will
then teach a lesson and have students watch a video on plants. After the video students will play a round of
Kahoot to test their knowledge.

Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
☐ Assess prior knowledge ☐ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) ☒ To illuminate common
misconceptions ☐ Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) ☒ Summative assessment of content knowledge ☒ Test preparation
☐ Survey/Poll ☐ Discussion starter ☐ “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain):

Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity:

Student Response and Assessment Tools
The students will individually receive an iPad and start the game of Kahoot led by the teacher allowing them
to answer one question at a time. The correct answer will be displayed after each student has answered
giving them a chance to know exactly what they got incorrect.
Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):
☒ Multiple choice ☐ Multiple select ☐ True/False ☐ Yes/No
☐ Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank ☐ Longer open-ended response

If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):

Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?

☒ Yes ☐ No
☐ Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)
Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
☒ Yes
☐ No
Why or why not?
Yes, I would like for the students to be able to know exactly what they missed and the question they
incorrectly answered.
Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?
After the activity, we will come back together as a group and discuss the question they missed. While
discussing the incorrect answers, I will allow students to explain why the answer is indeed wrong and give me
the correct answer. I will allow students to re-play the game after the discussing if further assessment is
necessary. I will them pass out a printout of the questions with the answers on them for students to take
home and review for the test.
How will the data be used?
After the activity, I will print out the date and the question that were heavily missed. I will then create a
review lesson for the students to re-teach things they are struggling with before the test. The students will
only receive a completion grade because it was solely meant to review what they were taught and get a
better understanding of how well the students retained the information.
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity.
My personal learning goal for this activity is to use Kahoot to incorporate a fun way to test the knowledge of
the students. This will allow students to display their knowledge and have fun while doing it. It also give me
very good feedback and allows for me to know exactly what the students are struggling with.
Reflective Practice:
This SRT activity will help my students by allowing me to create a quick game of Kahoot to access their
knowledge at any point in the lesson. This benefits them because it allows me to know what they aren’t
understanding instantly and provide them with some extra practice and review.
