Dr. Stanback-Stroud
President, Skies Line College
1111 College Drive
San Bruno, CA 94066

Dear Dr., Stanback-Stroud,

Through a professional acquaintance, I was referred to the Dean of Strategic

Partnerships & Workforce Development position that came available at Skies Line
College. As a current Program Coordinator for a career and technical education
program, I am confident in my ability to lead and maintain the values of the college while
developing innovative career education programs, work experience programs, career &
job placement services, adult education programs and incarceration rehabilitation
programs.

Within my first year of employment at a local community college, I was required to go

through Comprehensive Program Review. I worked with my administrative and faculty
team to redesign our Cosmetology and Esthetician program. This included eliminating
the existing eight course offerings, rewriting nine new classes and restructure the
course sequence to better suit new academic and industry standards. In my second
year, I conducted numerous student focus groups and advisory board meetings with
industry professionals and prospective employers. We decided to launch seven new
advanced industry related electives. These electives included Entrepreneurship: Small
Business Management, Advanced Skincare and Medical Esthetics, and Eyelash
Enhancements. Now that I am closing in on my third year of employment, my team and
I, received approval from the President of the college and college leadership team to
launch a brand-new Barbering program. This program launch is scheduled for Spring
2020 and will enroll a cohort of 35 students.

The success of our initiatives would not have been implemented or executed properly if
it wasn’t for the dedication to education by the Cosmetology and Esthetician team of
staff and faculty. I strive to lead my team with integrity, effectiveness, and deliberate
focus. It is important that I set the standard of excellence for my team to mirror. We
value the ability to serve students from a broad range of cultural heritages,
socioeconomic backgrounds, genders, abilities and orientations. We can accomplish
this by participating in a variety of professional development on and off campus. Last
year, I had the opportunity to attend the American Association of Cosmetology Schools
annual convention in Las Vegas as well as NCORE in New Orleans. AACS specializes
in updating members with information about new teaching methods, current events and
updates related to Cosmetology and Esthetics. Through workshops and keynote
speakers NCORE emphasizes the intersection of race, ethnicity, gender, religion, and
class within higher education. These opportunities have allowed me to strengthen my
leadership skills and develop programs that remove barriers so that students have an
equitable and diverse chance at a high-quality education.

Thank you for considering me for the position of Dean of Strategic Partnerships &
Workforce Development. I am confident in my ability to lead a team of like-minded
individuals who seek to forge strategic partnerships with industry leaders, facilitate the
expansion of career and technical education programs and create gainful employment
and academic opportunities for students. I am sure that my work ethic, professional
experience and personal commitment to creating equitable experiences for our diverse
student population will contribute to the district’s “Student’s First, Strategic Plan”. If you
have any questions, please call me at (520) 488-1111. You may also email me at

taking the time to review my documents.

Sincerely,

Robyn N. Ledesma
