Technology has secretly infiltrated each and every corner of our lives and one of these technological

achievements is television. Television has an enormous influence in our daily lives as it greatly influences
the things we opt for in our daily choices; whether it be a electronic gadget or a social behaviour.
However, televisions are detrimental for the young ones as it not only affects their studies but it also
deters their health and physical appearance.

First of all, the most prominent issue with television is that it hinders the children’s development in on
academic basis. Televisions broadcast a wide variety of shows which generally arouse interest among
the young ones who are still going through their schooling. This interest then further amounts to such
an extent that they start preferring televisions over their academic studies due to which they starting
lacking behind in their syllabus. Having a lack is very deleterious for their studies as it causes a lack of
knowledge about the subjects that would play a judgemental role in their future life, when they come
across a point where they need to get a job to fulfill their basic needs. Also, the students may choose a
different course of life because of the impact of television. Televisions also broadcast some violent
shows that might affect the mental stability of the still developing brains of the adolescents. So, the
television may have a hazardous effect on the children, though it might not seem such a big problem.

Health is another sector that is greatly impacted by watching television. The displays of the televisions
emit harmful blue rays that are pernicious for the juveniles. It is generally witnessed that the number of
children with affected eyes are increasing at a rapid pace as a lot of children are spectacled nowadays. It
is all because of the over exposure to the blue light that these gizmos radiate out. This daily exposure to
the television vision display may put a load on the nose for a lifetime. Another impact of television is
that it makes them obese. Obesity is a very harmful disease caused by the inactivity of the individuals.
Children remain seated in front of the televisions and avoid any activity due to their interest in their
favourite shows. This inactivity causes the accumulation of fat in their bodies which makes them obese.
Obesity is further heightened by the snacks that they eat while watching these shows. Hence, health is
another factor that is infected by televisions.

The last but not the least effect is on the physical appearance of the young ones. Being spectacled, their
facial appearance gets lowered. Although glasses may be regarded as an accessory to fashion, yet it does
affect their beauty. Also, as they get obese, the ultimate effect is on their body structure. Children start
to look as if they are much older than their actual age and do not have an attractive personality. Physical
appearance might now be regarded as less of an issue, but it still has a profound influence in some
cases. Take an example of the interview sessions that are mostly important for a plethora of jobs. The
first thing on which the eyes of the interviewers fall is the physical appearance and personality of the
candidate. Thus, physical appearance does have a role to play in our lives and this great feature is
spoiled by the over use of televisions. Since the children get their appearance exploited at a young age,
their personality worsens when the grow up. Therefore, the children are the ones whose appearance is
impacted the most
To wind it up, televisions may not be regarded as a huge problem, but it does have a disastrous effect on
the children’s holistic development as it obstructs the educational development of the youngsters and
affects their health and physical appearance as well. So, it can be said that televisions are inadequate for
the children to use on daily basis.
