Dentists
Dr. John F. Weston and Dr. Nicholas C. Marongiu - co-owners and two lead dentists at Scripps
Center for Dental Care - hold accredited status with the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry
(AACD), making the San Diego-based dental practice among the only offices in the region with
more than one AACD-accredited dentist.
San Diego, CA, April 25, 2019 --(PR.com)-- Scripps Center for Dental Care is distinguished as one of
the few practices whose team of dentists includes two accredited members of the AACD. As a
multi-specialty practice committed to treating a diverse range of patients' needs, Dr. John Weston and Dr.
Nicholas Marongiu believe the skills imparted from their rigorous accreditation process strengthen their
ability to provide the highest caliber of quality and care for San Diego patients.
The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD), a national institution that has long paved the
way for innovation in dentistry, awards accreditation to cosmetic dentists who have completed a rigorous
series of training requirements, which include meticulous clinical trials as well as written and oral
examinations. In turn, accreditation is regarded as a benchmark of excellence, signifying an unwavering
commitment to ongoing education, continual improvement, and responsible patient care. Dr. Weston,
who is an Accredited Fellow of the AACD, is among less than 100 dentists in the world who have
achieved this status, which is considered the highest level of certification for the field of cosmetic
dentistry. “Both Dr. Marongiu and I practice with the standards of quality expected by the AACD with
every patient, every day,” Dr. Weston states. “The credentialing process is so rigorous and demanding
that it trains your eyes to see dentistry in a totally different way.”
According to Dr. Weston, the Scripps team includes five certified dental specialists in addition to Dr.
Weston and Dr. Marongiu themselves, all of whom consult and collaborate with each other to solve the
unique problems and concerns presented by patients. “The main factor that sets our practice apart is the
full team approach,” Dr. Nicholas Marongiu remarks. “Our specialists are all working together to educate
the patient, provide treatment options, and extend truly comprehensive care.” With inclusion of an
in-house oral surgeon, periodontist, orthodontist, and endodontist, this distinction is certainly palpable to
individuals who visit Scripps Center for Dental Care. “Patients always tell us how amazing our team is,
and they see and feel the difference the minute they walk in the door. Our practice was built on a
foundation of providing the highest-quality service combined with true multi-specialty care - all in the
same practice.” Speaking on the advantages of having two AACD-accredited dentists conduct treatment
planning, Dr. Weston comments that “[w]e are very fortunate to have each other in the same practice
because each patient is afforded the benefit of us both working on their case. It's fun and inspiring for us
to be working together to achieve a common goal.”
Whether an individual's dental goals include aesthetic enhancement with porcelain veneers, restoration
with dental implants, or any of the broad spectrum of dental treatments offered at the practice, Dr. Weston
and Dr. Marongiu believe accreditation and fellowship from the AACD hold the entire office to a higher
standard and reinforce their patient-first practice philosophy. The dentists' collaboration not only works to

achieve better solutions, but increases patient accessibility to a qualified dentist. Dr. Weston regards his
fellowship as the most important decision he has made as a dentist, a choice he considers to play a role in
his practice everyday.
