dimes, and quarters whose total value is $2.00 or less.

Activity In this lesson, students will be introduced to money and how to


count money. The teacher will provide information on what
money is and how to count money to get a total of $2.00 or less.
Students will then use the SMART Notebook lesson to solve
problems about counting money. Students will be asked to
correctly identify what coins are worth what and how many
coins can be used in order to make the correct amount to
purchase an item. They will drag the coin into the correct box to
identify the money amount. If students need a review of the
may touch the “coin definition” from the left of the screen.
Students can check their answer on the “solution” page. If there
is an incorrect answer or “incorrect amount” the board will
notify you. Students will use their finger or pen tool to answer
questions by dragging the coins to the correct place. Students
can work in groups as well, the will brainstorm what they
learned about counting coins and counting the correct amount.
Then students will use everything they have learned about
counting and collecting coins to find the total value. Using the
pen tool students will fill in the correct value to identify the
coins but also write the value in number form.
