Should there be Single Gender Education

Many single gender schools are becoming defective. A variety of Schools are not thinking and

realizing about the ways it will affect students outside of school. However the question remains, should

there be single gender schools? Students should learn how to manage and communicate with other

genders. In the real world they are going to socialize with different genders and they might not get along

for whatever reason, but in school the same situation can happen, and if they go to schools with different

genders it teaches them how to work and collaborate with others as their are growing up

In Affo’s argument on single gender schools has many people agreeing and disagreeing with him.

The quote “ Some leaders in Washington, D.C., want to change the educational policy meant to ensure

“gender fairness” which means they want to separate students from their gender. However many people

do not agree. I think i would be better to be in a public school because we need to know how to

collaborate and understand other genders because outside of school we will be working with different

types of genders.

In addition, mixed genders has a better impact and influence on students because they get to learn

to understand other opinion and not just theirs. Some parents suggests that if students are in school with

different genders it will prepare them for the real world which contains all genders not just one. It will

prepare them by being able to handle with others and their point of views. It will also improve their social

skills because they will have that variety. It evens prepares them in the workforce and having the ability to

do more things with other genders.

On the other hand, Affo’s argument has people agreeing on single gender because there are

some parents who do not want their child to be in a classroom with mixed gender, since at a

certain age students of the opposite gender can be a distraction to the other gender. Many parents

believe that if their child goes to a school with same gender students their child will have a

higher education than a school with mixed gender students.

In conclusion, mixed gender schools are more beneficial for kids to be able to experience

how the real world is and to learn to understand other opinions and point of views from the

opposing gender. Not just that but to be able to handle other genders in ways that fit them best

and also gain social skills to be able to interact and communicate with the opposing gender.
