Operations Manual PowerPoint Presentation Outline

Raleigh Brown
Presented: 03/28/19
1. Title
2. Introducing the Project
- The syllabus suggested several project ideas but I wished for my project to impact the
facility long-term, not for just one day.
- The conversation of an operations manual began with my boss expressing concerns of not
having a solid reference of the equipment in the building.
3. Why this Project?
- When thinking what this operation manual would do for the facility, I created three main
concerns that were present without the presence of a manual.
4. Operations Manual Format
- The entire manual was created through Microsoft Word.
- I added a colored background to give a more solid separation between the front and back
pages so it would not be as see-through.
- Two pieces of equipment per page to give a clean, organized, and consistent appearance.
5. Title Page (Minute: 7)
- The Piedmont symbol was added to verify what organization the manual belonged to.
- A picture of campus was included to specify what campus this manual applies to.
- In case the manual was misplaced, the facility information was included.
6. Table of Contents
- The table of contents is listed in alphabetical order, but the equipment was not in order of
appearance on the table of contents.
o This is because more equipment will be added in the future and the it would be
confusing to switch around the order of information in the manual. It would be
much more efficient to just add equipment to the end of the manual and order the
equipment alphabetically only in the table of contents.
7. Equipment Descriptions
- I include “Contact” “Location” and “What” for each piece of equipment to give who
someone could call in case the device is not working, where the equipment is located in
the building, and what the equipment does if it’s not clearly stated in the equipment title.
- Each piece of equipment varies in terms of how it operates and what we need to know
about it. Additional information specifically applying to the equipment is provided in
bullet form with each section.
8. Equipment Pages
- Three other pages in the manual were displayed to give more examples of what is
included in the equipment information
- Read through some of these descriptions to reiterate the difference in information about
the equipment

9. Additional Contacts
- This section was added at the end of the manual to make it easier to add more contacts
without messing up the format of the equipment descriptions
- This was created in a simple format to make it easy and uniform when adding contacts
10. Editing Process (Minute: 18)
- The biggest revisions made in the manual was adding equipment that Mr. Terry forgot to
mention or including all the information about the existing equipment.
- These revisions were done through meetings with hard copies of the manual and emails.
- The business development manager gave feedback about how to write out the
information in a clear format.
- The director of physician operations gave feedback on what to include on the cover page.
- The student intern helped format the layout of the entire manual.
11. Project Evaluation
- When thinking about how to evaluate the completed project, I referred back to the main
reasons why I was passionate about starting it and why it was unsafe without it.
- All three concerns from not having a manual are now diminished with the creation of an
operations manual.
12. SMART Objectives for Presentation
- I created objectives for this presentation and for the entire project
- I wanted 50% of the audience to describe one piece of equipment to show me that I
presented the information correctly and effectively.
o During the presentation, 2 of the 4 people in the audience were able to describe
one piece of equipment in the manual.
- I wanted 50% of the audience to see the value of this manual so they will treat it
accordingly throughout the years.
o During the presentation, the other 2 people in the audience were able to state one
way this manual is essential to the facility.
13. SMART Objectives for Project
- I wished for another manager to correctly describe each procedure to ensure that the
information in clear and easy to follow from another perspective.
- I wished for two other employees to locate the manual to ensure that in the event of an
emergency, somebody in the building knew how to get the manual to handle the
equipment.
14. Plans for the Future (Minute: 28)
- Technology is very big, so maybe it would be more efficient in the future to have a digital
copy of the manual
- Annual check-up should be required to keep the manual up to date and correct with any
changes made within the last year
