new Labour government, where
many deported students had joined
through Skype, Kiwi-Indian MP
Priyanca Radhakrishnan had
said, “These cases are in front of
Ombudsman, therefore, it would be
inappropriate for me to comment
on them.”
Since then the MPs in the
government have maintained a
consistent approach of refusing
to comment on specific cases of
deported Indian students, and instead
claiming to work to remove the
scope of exploitation, believed to
be embedded within New Zealand’s
international education and
immigration system.
However, what is noteworthy
is the fact that the Ombudsman
decision had come on June 21,
2018, and not much has been heard
from the government suggesting any
systematic action for reviewing the
cases of deported Indian students.

the legality of INZ’s actions
in deporting a large group of
Indian students in 2017 and 2018,
but criticised INZ’s policy and
methodology in processing student
visa applications and noted that the
Government decided not to put in

deported Indian students who have
been removed from the country for
no fault of theirs, Mr McClymont
told The Indian Weekender.
Then, it was possibly

2019 as saying “it’s no longer
appropriate for her to advocate for
a group of deported Indian students,
while the government is actively
considering some of the students’
cases.”
Ms Ardern had then told the
RNZ given her advocacy occurred
in opposition it was no longer
appropriate for her to advocate the
case. However, she had said Labour
MP Deborah Russell had picked it
up and was supporting the students
in their applications to reverse the
deportation orders.
Although, it’s not clear if the
government or any MP in the
government is working towards the
bigger goal of delivering justice
to the two-hundred-odd students
deported from New Zealand.
Nevertheless, there has not been
any hints or public declaration by
the government or any MPs in the
government suggesting that there
was any intention to order a review
of the plight of deported Indian
students.

Why the government
cannot offer deported
Indian students a general
amnesty
I t is imperative to ask the question
that why the new government has
not ordered a review of the cases of
213 expelled Indian students so far
or even better and fairer, to offer
a general amnesty to all students
deported by INZ for allegedly
providing fraudulent financial
documents – a charge vehemently
rejected by students.
The offer of blanket approval
for visas for Indian students would
not be without precedent in New
Zealand.
At least on one previous occasion,
New Zealand government had offered
a general amnesty to a large number
of visa/residency hopefuls – Filipino
dairy workers – who INZ believed
have provided false document but
could not prove beyond doubt that
they were a party to the fraud, and
were subsequently allowed to remain
in the country.
It is pertinent to ask this
government what is stopping it from
acting decisively and with kindness
and compassion that it often claims
to represent.
This is even when firstly INZ
had failed to prove beyond doubt
that Indian students were a party
with their fraudulent agents and
subsequently the deported Indian
students were given no opportunities
whatsoever to defend themselves
in court.

future. Her mission is to see as many people
as possible involved in redirecting so-called
junk away from rubbish bins and landfills and
making it useful again in places like her office.
It’s a process colloquially called ‘upcycling’.

what they can do to divert waste away from
landfill by reusing, repairing and upcycling
items, rather than throwing away what they

ew Zealand businesses need
to understand and engage
with the aspirations and
expectations of the new young India
if they really want to succeed in the
Indian market, argues Suzannah
Jessep, the former NZ Deputy High
Commissioner to India, Sri Lanka,
Bangladesh and current Director,
Research and Engagement, Asia NZ
Foundation.
Ms Jessep was delivering a keynote
address at an event organised by the
India New Zealand Business Council
(INZBC) on Wednesday, April 10,
hosted at WelTec and Whitireia’s NZ
Institute of Creativity, in Wellington.
The theme of the day was
Perspectives on India: Diplomacy
and Trade.
“With India having the largest
population of people below 35
years, it’s the ‘Young India’ that
New Zealanders need to understand.
Modern India is a different world,”
Ms Jessep said at the event,
demonstrating how her recent posting
to India had enlightened her about
the complexities and the challenges
of the Indian market.
India has been the world’s fastest
growing major economy in recent
years and by 2020 is expected to be
the fifth largest economy in the world.

countries has grown significantly in

having been doubled to $1.39 billion
and goods trade reaching up to $1.27
billion, despite the long-pending
Free Trade Agreement.
In recent times, there has been a
growing inclination among critical
stakeholders, including the INZBC -
the premium NZ-India trade-related
body committed to promote bilateral
trade between the two countries -
to not get constrained by the delay
in signing of an FTA and focus on
developing synergies within each
other’s markets to get better business
outcomes.
In that regard, the key takeaway
from this recently organised INZBC
event of focusing and catering to
the aspirations of new young India
would go a long way in promoting
better business outcomes for both
countries.

Earlier last year in August 2018
when NZ dairy giant Fonterra re-
entered into the Indian market
with a Joint Venture with the local
Future Group after a decade long
absence, the intention was clearly
to eye on the aspirations of the new
young India.
At the time of the joint venture,

and foodservice had said, “the Indian

era where more value-added and

demand across the country.”
Given that India’s demographic
profile is fast changing, along with
a rapidly growing economy, which
is imparting more purchasing power

businesses would undoubtedly do
well, if they cater to their growing
expectations and aspirations for
consuming world-class innovative
products.
In that regard, there are also
opportunities to grow exports in
areas such as professional services,
in-country provision of education,
healthcare, and aviation.
The event was moderated by
INZBC board member, Esther
Guy-Meakin, who is the manager -
international trade at Beef + Lamb
New Zealand, and the guests were
welcomed by Victoria Spackman,
Director - TeAuaha, who also
outlined the work that WelTec and
Whitireia NZ do in the creative arts
space in Wellington.
The event also had participation
from a visiting inward delegation
from a premier Indian think-tank
organisation Indian Council of
World Affairs (ICWA), which was
discussion on the invitation of Asia
New Zealand Foundation. Speaking
on occasion the delegation’s head,
Soumen Bagchi, DDG, ICWA,
highlighted the recent progress
made by India in the world economy
and bilateral ties in the Pacific and
beyond.
The other key speakers at
the event were Michael Wood,
Parliamentary Under-Secretary to
Minister of Ethnic Communities,
Barney Riley, Lead Negotiator,
RCEP (Regional Comprehensive
Economic Partnership). Mr Wood
was especially appreciative of the
efforts of INZBC in engaging with
the business community of both
countries, to keep the dialogue
going. Mr Wood also highlighted
the excellent work being done by the
ethnic communities in New Zealand
which helps in advancing the people-
to-people relations between the two
countries.
Expressing satisfaction with
the outcome of the event the
INZBC Wellington Chapter head,
Sushrutha Metikurke said, “The
event had a great turnout with
participants sharing their insights and
perspectives on the New Zealand-
India trade relationship. It was a very
successful start to the year for the
Wellington Chapter.”

“We have actively participated in ANZAC
day dawn and civic parades for a number of
years now, helping to organise the remembrance
parades and work closely with the RSA and
we have also been fortunate enough to lay
wreaths to honour and remember those who
made sacrifices for the freedoms we enjoy in
this country,” President of Ahmadiyya Muslim
Youth Association New Zealand (AMYANZ),
Azeem Zafarullah said.
Mr Zafarullah mentioned about the
significance of this year in the context of the
Christchurch Mosque attacks and the Sri
Lankan Church attacks.
“There is a growing anti-Muslim and
Islamophobic movement, the ideology of which
is very dangerous and spreading like a poison.
Due to the barbaric acts of terrorism committed
in the name of Islam by organisations such as
ISIS, many people around the world believe
that Islam is incompatible with the west; they
believe you cannot be a patriotic and loyal
citizen whilst being a Muslim. We wish to
demonstrate the contrary through our actions
by continuing to serve our country and honour
those who have done the same,” Mr Zafarullah
added.

Prepare for a spiritual "RCEP has significant

he holy month of Ramadan is just a
week away, and the Muslim community
across the globe have started their
preparations, especially a mental drill to make
the best of this month.
By stating ‘make the most of this month,’ it
is meant to do as many good deeds as possible,
such as giving charity, making special prayers,
fasting, asking for forgiveness for past sins and
persevering to come closer to God.
Ramadan is a month to practice not just
abstinence from food and water but also purify
ones’ soul, clear the conscience and do deeds
that bring oneself a little closer to God. The
abstinence is also for the eyes, tongue, ears,
mind and heart- to not to say poor words to
others or hurt people with words or actions.
It is also a month to bring the practice of
five-times prayers in ones’ life and recite and
understand the message of the Quran as much
as possible. It is the month to invite non-
practising Muslims and showcase the teachings
of Islam and show the richness of Islamic
traditions.
Elements and practices of Ramadan:
Ramadan is the ninth month in the Islamic
calendar (1440 Hijri), and it starts with the
sighting of the moon and is expected to begin
from Tuesday, May 7 in New Zealand. The
month will end after 29 or 30 days depending
on the sigting of the moon and with that
Muslims will observe Eid-ul-Fitr.
It is compulsory for every Muslim individual
to fast, that is, a person fasting cannot eat or
drink between dawn and dusk- until the adhaan
(call to prayer) is made at sunset.
Sehri: It is advised to have a small meal
before dawn or call of adhaan at dawn so that
one does not feel weak while fasting during the
day. Sehri can include as light as a date and a
glass of water before the adhaan is made for the
Fajr prayers.
Iftaar: People fasting during the day can
open their fast at the call of adhaan at sunset.

juices along with fruits to open their fast. It is
also advisable to the observers to open with a
light meal and proceed to the Maghrib prayers
straight after iftaar.
Taraweeh: In the month of Ramadan, a
special prayer is made during the fifth-time
prayer of the day called Taraweeh. During this
Taraweeh, the Imam leads the prayer reciting
verses and chapters of the Holy Quran in
sequence. Taraweeh is usually of 20 rakats
and different Imams or mosques complete
the recitation of the whole Quran at different
intervals of the month. People who are unable
to attend the congregational Taraweeh prayers
are advised to offer the same at their homes or
in private reciting short chapters of the Quran.
Lailatul Qadr: Ramadan is the month in
which the Holy Quran was sent to earth, and
it is said that it was one of last five odd nights
when the Quran was dawned upon humanity.
These last five odd nights are called ‘Lailatul
Qadr’, the importance of which is mentioned
in several hadiths and parts of the Quran. It is
said that praying on each of these five nights
is equal to praying for a thousand months and
Muslims are said to observe these nights by
making special prayers and ask for forgiveness.
Zakat: Like five-time daily prayers, Zakat
is also one of the five pillars of Islam. It is
obligatory for a person to pay charity on their
assets and wealth calculated in a lunar year. The
Zakat is to be paid to the needy and deserving
people and within the month of Ramadan.
Ittiqaaf: Ittiqaf means to be in isolation
in order to completely devote one’s time and
energy towards the worship of Allah. Ramadan
is divided in a three ashurahs (parts), and it is
a Sunnah to go into Ittiqaf in the last ten days
of Ramadan. Men can go to masjid and women
can observe the same in the house by taking
seclusion in a particular corner of their home
dedicated only for worship.

times obligatory prayers are a must for every
individual beside fasting, charity and making
special prayers.

A
chance remark has put beautiful hand-
knitted garments on thousands of
babies born across south Auckland.
When Pukekohe’s Joan Loader, armed with
bootees and a hat, went to hospital to visit
her grand-daughter and meet her new great
grandchild, one of the nurses remarked ‘here
comes the knitting granny’.
It was like casting on the stitches…
Joan went home and talked to friends, put
a few feelers out, and before she knew it,
the Knitting Grannies were off and in full
production mode.
That was 17 years ago and now, every second
Wednesday, Joan’s home is crammed with good
samaritans battling to be heard over the clack-
clack of flying knitting needles.
They like to be referred to as ladies, though
Joan says a staffer from the Middlemore
Foundation, where all the knitting goes to be
distributed to new mums, once dubbed them
‘Knitting Angels’.
With wool and needles at hand, Joan’s
grannies set about making hundreds of items a
year. The clothing and blankets they make are
gifted to the area’s newest citizens, keeping
them toasty warm and in rude health.

Keeping up production doesn’t come cheap,
and Franklin Local Board has chipped in

keep the wool coming.
“I suppose we are mostly women who grew
up knitting baby clothes because back in the
day that’s just what you did,” Joan says.
“But it is nice to see your skills used and to
feel like you are contributing, doing something
useful for the community, even if you are never
going to see the little ones you’re helping.”
And nothing goes to waste. All the little bits
of leftover wool are dutifully collected and
transformed into bootees, crocheted or knitted
into one of the hundreds and hundreds of peggy
squares that eventually form baby blankets.
“We can have a couple of dozen of us here,
and sometimes more talking than knitting
goes on, but it’s great fun. Once we even had
someone who had to stand in the doorway and
knit, we were so full,” Joan says.
The Knitting Grannies knit in every colour
imaginable, making for a colourful display
when the clothes are laid out to be packed in
large rubbish sacks for the hospital - as many as
eight at a time, with hundreds of items in them.

Minister Phil Twyford officially
opened 23 new state homes designed
for Auckland families in the high-demand area
of Birkdale on April 24.
“These 18 two-bedroom and five four-
bedroom warm, dry homes on Chippendale
Crescent have been designed to meet the needs
of families in the area,” Phil Twyford. “They
are close to a number of schools, the Beach
Haven ferry to Auckland CBD, and are 4km
from the Glenfield Mall.
“There is a real demand for public housing
for families in need in the Birkdale, and
Auckland region.
“In the wider Kaipatiki Local Board area, the
demand for housing has been on the rise for a
number of years. Since December 2017, the
number of families or individuals waiting for
a state house has nearly doubled to about 150.
“Between this redevelopment, and two
others on the same street, Housing NZ has
better utilised this land and transformed 12 old
state homes that were no longer fit for purpose
into 40 new two, three and four-bedroom
homes for families in need. This redevelopment
project has helped to transform Birkdale into a
thriving community for Auckland families of
all different sizes and backgrounds,” he said.
Auckland currently has about 140 active
construction sites as part of the Auckland
Housing Programme.
“I look forward to opening more new state
housing around the country this year as we
move towards our target of 6,400 more public
housing places over the next four years.” Phil

6am this morning, with the provisional number
of deaths from road crashes standing at three.
However with the Anzac Day public holiday
falling on Thursday and school holidays
underway, many New Zealanders will still be
travelling.
“While the number of deaths from road
crashes is lower than the same period in 2018,
that’s no comfort for those left behind. My
heart breaks for families and loved ones who’re
grieving, and communities impacted by these
road crashes.
“We know we need to change our thinking
about road safety. On average, one person
dies on New Zealand’s roads every day and
someone else is injured every hour of every
day. Everyone makes mistakes, but we need to
stop these mistakes turning into tragedies.
“New Zealand’s roads are challenging and
the consequences of small errors can be fatal.
We’re working to make our roads safer, and
improve the safety of our vehicles so that
simple mistakes don’t turn into tragedies.” says
Julie Anne Genter.
The official 2019 Easter holiday period ran
from 4pm Thursday 18 April until 6am Tuesday
morning. Historically, the lowest Easter road
toll saw no deaths in 2012, while the highest
recorded number of deaths from road crashes

NZ and France seek to end use of
social media for acts of terrorism

announced on Wednesday,
April 24, that the two
nations will bring together countries
and tech companies in an attempt
to bring to an end the ability to use
social media to organise and promote
terrorism and violent extremism, in
the wake of the March 15 terrorist
attacks in Christchurch New Zealand.
The meeting will take place in Paris on May
15, and will be co-chaired by New Zealand
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and French
President Emmanuel Macron.
The meeting aims to see world leaders and
CEOs of tech companies agree to a pledge
called the ‘Christchurch Call’ to eliminate
terrorist and violent extremist content online.
The meeting will be held alongside the “Tech
for Humanity” meeting of G7 Digital Ministers,
of which France is the Chair, and France’s
separate “Tech for Good” summit, both on
15 May. Jacinda Ardern will also meet with
civil society leaders on 14 May to discuss the
content of the Call.
“The March 15 terrorist attacks saw social
media used in an unprecedented way as a tool
to promote an act of terrorism and hate. We are
asking for a show of leadership to ensure social
media cannot be used again the way it was in
the March 15 terrorist attack,” Jacinda Ardern
said.
“We’re calling on the leaders of tech
companies to join with us and help achieve our
goal of eliminating violent extremism online at
the Christchurch Summit in Paris.

“Our data shows that the private sector job
market peaked around the start of 2018 and
there has been a significant (5-10 per cent)
tail off since then. The decline in business
confidence is now reducing new hiring”
Mr Wade noted that employer caution is
reducing new listings and advertised wages,
despite difficult filling vacancies. “Salaries
were up just 1.1 per cent year-on-year this
quarter. “This is having a knock on effect in
terms of how long it takes to fill positions too.
Without higher wages, there’s little incentive
for skilled job hunters to jump ship.
“The numbers we’re seeing suggest that this
slow wage growth is likely to continue for the
rest of 2019.”
Mr Wade said that despite the decline in
listings, the talent shortage remains. “New
Zealand’s talent shortage is a structural
problem and is not resolved with a decline in
number of jobs on offer. Unfortunately there
are still sectors where the demand for skills
outstrips supply, which requires better long-
term planning and investment by Government
and Industries”.
Pain for Auckland and optimism
for the regions
Mr Wade said the weakness in job vacancies
is concentrated in the main centres: Auckland
and Canterbury were down 13.1 and 10.3 per
cent respectively while the Wellington region
was up just 0.3 per cent.
“Auckland has driven much of the downturn
we’re seeing. The start of 2019 has been brutal
for the Super City’s employment market. As
well as listings being down, average pay has
dropped (down 0.3 per cent).
“Auckland’s dip has been spectacular in
just how suddenly it’s come about. Auckland
employers appear to pessimistic rather than
just cautious about the future and they’re
battening down the hatches. It could be an
interesting year.”
Meanwhile many of the smaller regions
many saw jumps in vacancies. “Gisborne
(up 36.9 per cent), Hawke’s Bay (up 15.1
per cent), Southland (up 14.5 per cent) and
the West Coast (up 23.1 per cent) all saw
impressive jumps in listings. However, Mr
Wade warned that this could be a temporary
state of affairs as the Auckland knock-on effect
could spread in the coming months and years.

with KiwiSaver
providers drops

ustomer satisfaction with KiwiSaver
providers has dropped in Consumer
NZ’s annual survey.
Consumer NZ chief executive Sue Chetwin
said almost all of the 13 providers rated in the
survey saw their customer satisfaction ratings
fall.
“Overall, 48% of KiwiSavers were happy
with the service they were getting from their
provider, down from 52% last year,” Ms
Chetwin said.
Satisfaction scores for three of the biggest
providers – AMP, ANZ and ASB – were
significantly below the industry average.
“Only 36% of ASB customers were very
satisfied with the service they were getting.
AMP scored 37% and ANZ 41%,” she said.
Just two providers achieved satisfaction
scores above 60%: Milford and Westpac both
rated 66%.
But it wasn’t all good news for Westpac:
the KiwiSaver scheme rated below average
for keeping customers up-to-date about their
investments.
Ms Chetwin said the fall in ratings was
likely influenced by sharemarket volatility,
which had led to a bumpy 12 months for some
funds.
But the quality of information consumers
got about their funds also affected satisfaction,
she said.

demonstrating a show of global leadership on the seemingly complex challenge posed

ecent news about an increase
in Indian corporates and state
entities issuing dollar bonds
is welcome news, especially since it
clearly shows investor appetite for
lending to credible Indian business
models.
However, relatively easy liquidity
and high investor appetite for lending
in the international markets must be
tempered by the fact that borrowing
in foreign currencies is beneficial
for businesses with certain specific
balance sheet structures.
While relatively low interest
rates abroad and increasing investor
demand for relatively good quality
debt assists in borrowing for Indian
businesses, it is essential to realise
that severe foreign exchange rate
fluctuations can severely impact the
debt servicing capacity of a company
that relies excessively on foreign
borrowings.
For businesses that have assets
creating dollar cash flows, borrowing
in the currency makes sense. For
instance, for an exporter of products
or services to the United States with
a dollar-based stream of income,
financing greenback liabilities is
more feasible.
While macro factors are beyond the
control of a business, understanding
and creating a well-balanced balance
sheet is something that deserves

points or 0.96 per cent to close the
week at 39,140.28 points. NIFTY
gained 109.35 points or 0.94 per
cent to close at 11,752.80 points.
Markets saw the benchmark indices
make substantial gains on Thursday
and then recede on account of profit-
taking.
BSE SENSEX touched a new life-
time high of 39,487.45 points and
then corrected to 39,083.16 points
and finally settled at 39,140,28
points. NIFTY hit a life-time high of
11,856.15 points, and then corrected

attack that left 359 people dead and
500 injured, according to senior
intelligence officials familiar with
the matter who spoke on condition of
anonymity. The first alert was on April
4, and it came from investigations
by Indian agencies that followed
after the National Investigation
Agency (NIA), in December
2018, stumbled upon the videos of
National Thowheed Jama’at (NTJ)
leader Maulvi Zahran Bin Hashim
while probing the Islamic State (IS)
Coimbatore module.
In the first alert, the agencies
told Sri Lanka that, apart from
churches, the Indian High
Commission in Colombo could be

determine how much each country

India studies new US decision against Iran oil waiver
I ndia has seen the US announcement which says that five major countries
including India will no longer be exempt from penalties if they continue
to import oil from Iran, and is studying the implications of the decision, said
informed sources on Monday.
The sources said that the government has seen the announcement made
by the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo that the United States will not
extend any waivers to importers of Iranian oil from sanctions and there will
be no grace period for them to comply.
They said that implications of the decision are being studied and a
statement will be made at an appropriate time.
US President Donald Trump has decided that five major countries
including India will no longer be exempt from penalties if they continue to
import Iranian oil, the White House said on Monday.

Scrapped 1,500 laws in 5 years: Modi to traders
I
n the middle of the ongoing general election, Prime Minister Narendra
Modi on Friday said the NDA government scrapped over 1,500 laws in
the last five years to ease business operations in the country.
Slamming the Congress, he said before his government came in,
Congress-led governments insulted traders and that the business community
had to face "laws of jungle and jungle of laws".
On the Goods and Services Tax (GST), he said the new tax regime brought
in transparency and revenue of states increased by one-and-a-half times.
The number of registered traders rose twice after GST was introduced, he
said.
The government has been addressing traders' concerns with GST Council
meeting every two months and reviewing the rates. As a result, most of the
essential products are now in the zero tax slab, and around 98 per cent goods
and services are below the 18 per cent slab, Modi said.
The Prime Minister said that as the country jumped 75 places to the 77th
rank globally in terms of ease of doing business in the last five years, he
aims to reach the 50th position in the next half decade.

driven approach, to strengthen governance in rural areas by involving
policymakers and elected representatives.

to deliver development solutions across the country.
The fellows in the program work closely with the MPs across sectors
such as agriculture, education, livelihood, renewable energy, social welfare,
water, health and nutrition.
The organization has identified hundreds of government programmes
which are difficult to map on progress, as the data involved isn't streamlined,
and as a consequence, funds allocated for the schemes remain underutilized,
and eventually, are returned to the state exchequer.
"At the very core of what Swaniti Initiative does is working with
governance systems to improve public services," Rwitwika Bhattacharya,
CEO, Swaniti Initiative, told development stories' online website, The

Rwitwika cited Building and Other Construction Workers (Regulation of

assembly, becoming the first Indian to win an
election in Japan. Puranik Yogendra, a naturalised
Japanese, secured 6,477 votes, the fifth highest of
the 226,561 valid ballots cast, in the April 21 poll,
part of unified local elections held across Japan, the
Asahi Shimbun reported.
“I want to be a bridge between Japanese and
foreigners,” said Yogi, who was backed by the
Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan.
Edogawa Ward has the highest number of Indian
residents among Tokyo’s 23 wards with 4,300 or
so Indian nationals registered, accounting for more
than 10 per cent of Indians living in Japan. Over
34,000 Indians live in Japan. The Edogawa Ward
also has a large number of Chinese and Koreans.
“This is the first-ever victory of a naturalised

Yogi felt his ties with Japan strengthen after

trips and chatting with Japanese while preparing
food dishes that Yogi felt a strong affinity with this

Foundation stone laid for 1st Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi

he historic foundation stone-laying ceremony of the first
traditional Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi was performed
on Saturday in the presence of officials from India and
the United Arab Emirates as well as thousands of members of
the community.
The ceremony was presided over by Mahant Swami Maharaj
-- the spiritual leader of BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha – the
organisation building the temple, along with other priests.
Indian Ambassador Navdeep Suri attended the event in the
presence of over 2,500 Indians from the UAE and across the
world, according to Gulf News.
Suri and BAPS Hindu Mandir committee head and
community leader B.R. Shetty were among those who laid
foundation stones. Some 50 priests from India were part of the
ceremony, the Khaleej Times reported.
UAE’s Minister of Climate Change Thani Al Zoyoudi
and Ahmad Bilhoul Al Falasi, Minister of State for Higher
Education and Advanced Sciences, were among the attendees. 
The temple will be built in phases with all the pink stones
and marble being transported from Rajasthan to the UAE
capital, the Khaleej Times said.
The stones of the temple will be hand-carved by artisans in
India and then transported to Abu Dhabi. Once completed, this
will be the first traditional Hindu stone temple in the Middle
East.
The temple is being built on 13.5 acres (55,000 square
metres) of land gifted by Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh
Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan to the Indian community.

separate bowls.
• Once the chicken legs become tender, turn off the heat. Remove the
chicken leg pieces and keep aside in a bowl. Reserved the mixture and let
it cool down.
• In a deep bowl add chicken legs, garam masala powder, 1 tablespoon
garlic paste, corn flour, red chili powder, chopped green chili, cumin
powder, black pepper, bread crumbs and egg. Mix all the ingredients well
and refrigerate it for 30 minutes.
• Then heat oil in a pan. Also, beat an egg in a bowl and dip chicken legs in
it. Then deep fry the chicken until they turn golden brown in colour. Bohri
fried chicken is now ready.

Ingredients
• 300 gm minced chicken
• 3 minced spring onion leaves
• 2 tablespoon fish sauce
• 1 teaspoon powdered spice black pepper
• 1/2 tablespoon refined oil
• 2 large minced onion
• 2 egg whites
• 2 tablespoon sugar
• 22 wonton wrapper
• 1 egg yolk
Method
• Mix the minced chicken, onions, spring
onions, egg white, fish sauce, pepper
powder and sugar in a large bowl.
• Mix the batter well for 4 to 5 minutes or
until it gets lightly stiff.
• Separate the wonton wrappers and cut each
into triangles and add 1 or 2 tablespoon
of the minced chicken mixture on each
triangle.
• Brush the edges with the egg yolk and
place another triangle on top. Now press
the edges and seal completely.
• Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium
flame and fry the prepared wontons for 2
to 3 minutes on each side or until golden
brown and crispy.
• Remove when done and drain the excess
oil. Serve hot with ketchup or chilli sauce.
