Throughout our nation’s history, there have been several scrambles for Africa that have

taken place during the 19th and 20th centuries. People deemed Africa as important because of

their vast lands and growing economy. A third scramble for Africa is now underway still because

of all of the great resources that Africa has to offer. Therefore, many of the nations across the

world are attempting to strengthen their ties with Africa in hopes of gaining some of the African

opportunities. The real question is, however, who will win this scramble? If Africa chooses to

handle it wisely and chooses not only the right partners, but the right way to handle the scramble,

the real winners will be the Africans themselves.

Although the scrambles for Africa have been in existence for multiple years, Africa has

recently gained popularity due to the fact that more embassies have been opened there. The

opening of these embassies has contributed to the furthering of relationships with many

countries. This is beneficial to the country of Africa, and can help them to win this new

scramble. Also, as military ties are deepening as well, Africa is gaining many materials including

war materials, allowing Africans to become more advanced in the military world.

Finally, although some people have only connected with Africa in order to gain resources

and materials that would be beneficial to their own countries, Africa has never truly been

scammed by other countries. Seeing as though Africa has only benefitted by other countries and

has continued to grow in size and resources as a result of bonding with other countries, it is

essential for their economy to continue furthering their ties with others in order to keep their

economy at a constant growing rate.

Overall, although the country of Africa is on the up-rise, they need to take everything into

consideration and be smart about their decisions in order to further their economy and win the

scramble. African leaders need to think more strategically so that their decisions will be of

benefit for the country of Africa. By doing so, they will be able to prove to the rest of the country

that they can be a transparent government, and by doing so, the rest of Africa will have

advantages in working together and will strive as an economy.
