THE PROBLEM

Background of the Study

advanced than any software ever created.”

It is not novel in the understanding of the people that

technology has a significant part in their lives. Through

these innovative and modern technologies, their lives are

intended to become easier, peaceful and more convenient in all

aspects like in science and in the field of law which are

correlated to each other in solving crimes.

One of these technologies is the explosion of DNA typing

or profiling. DNA (Deoxyribonucleic Acid) is the genetic

material that makes each individual unique. Other than

identical twins, no two people have the exact same DNA.

Because DNA evidence is unique and can be attributed to a

single source, it is individual evidence (Brown & Davenport,

2012).

In most cases, DNA is the vital key to prove the guilt of

the perpetrator by using its scientific principles like in sex

offenses. Sex offenses like sexual assault have widened its

threat in women’s lives, well-being, and dignity. According to

Snow (2006) sexual assault is defined as an act of control and
